2023 Copa Paraguay
The 2023 Copa Paraguay was the fifth edition of the Copa Paraguay, Paraguay's domestic football cup competition organized by the Paraguayan Football Association (APF). The competition began on 18 April and ended on 2 December 2023, with the winners qualifying for the 2023 Supercopa Paraguay against the Primera División champions with better record in the aggregate table. Libertad were the champions, claiming their second Copa Paraguay title by beating Sportivo Trinidense on penalty kicks after a 1–1 draw in the final. As winners, Libertad were entitled to earn a berth into the 2024 Copa Libertadores, however since both finalists qualified for that competition via league performance, that berth was awarded to the third-placed team, Nacional. Sportivo Ameliano were the defending champions, but were eliminated by Sportivo Trinidense in the quarter-finals. Club 24 de Setiembre, also known as 24 de Setiembre VP, is a Paraguayan football club based in Valle Pucú in the municipality of Areguá. It was founded on September 24, 1914, coinciding with the festivity of the Virgin of Mercy, patron saint of the community. 12 de Octubre Football Club is a Paraguayan football club from the city of Itauguá that currently plays in the División Intermedia, the second division of Football in Paraguay. Founded in 1914, the club's home venue is Estadio Luis Alberto Salinas Tanasio. The club is the only club outside the Asuncion Metropolitan Area to win a league title. History The club was founded on 14 August 1914 by the Tanasio family. The name of the club, 12 de Octubre, was chosen in honor of Columbus Day. The club's colors were chosen based on some flowers a school teacher had. The team played in the regional leagues from their foundation until they were promoted to the first division B in 1996. Tacuary
Tacuary Football Club is a Paraguayan First Division football team, based in the neighborhood of Jara, Asunción. The club was founded in 1923. Tacuary qualified for the Copa Libertadores tournament twice (in 2005 and 2007) and the Copa Sudamericana twice (in 2007 and 2012). In 2013 it returned to the Paraguayan Segunda División. In the 2021 season of Paraguay's División Intermedia, Tacuary finished in 3rd and was promoted to the Primera División. Sportivo Luqueño
Club Sportivo Luqueño is a Paraguayan football club, based in the city of Luque on the outskirts of the capital Asunción. The club has won two Paraguayan championships. History The club was founded in 1921 when three teams from the city of Luque (Marte Atlético, General Aquino and Vencedor) decided to merge and form one single club: Sportivo Luqueño. Only three years after its foundation, the team was already playing in the first division and fighting for the title. So far, Sportivo Luqueño has won three first division titles in the Paraguayan league, in 1951, 1953 and 2007. Club Olimpia is a Paraguayan sports club based in the city of Asunción. The club promotes the practice of various sports with most importance given to the football, rugby and basketball sides, the former being the highest priority and most successful. Club Guaraní is a Paraguayan football team, based in the neighbourhood of Pinozá in outer Asunción. Founded on 12 October 1903, it is one of the oldest and one of the most successful in the country, with eleven Primera División titles, and has never been relegated to a lower division.
