2023 British Athletics Championships
The 2023 British Athletics Championships was the national championships in outdoor track and field for athletes in the United Kingdom, which also served as a qualifying event for the 2023 World Athletics Championships. On 28 July, 51 British athletes were chosen for the World Championships. Background In April 2023, UK Athletics confirmed that the 2023 British Athletics Championships would be held in Manchester on 8 and 9 July. The Championships were used as the main qualification method for the 2023 World Athletics Championships in August 2023; competitors qualified automatically for the World Championships if they finished in the top two in the event, and reached the competition's qualifying standard. ''Runner's World'' is a globally circulated monthly magazine for runners of all skills sets, published by Hearst in Easton, Pennsylvania, in the United States. Katie Snowden
Katie Snowden (born 9 March 1994) is an English middle-distance runner representing England and Great Britain, specialising in the 1500 metres. She finished fourth in the event at the 2022 European Athletics Championships. Snowden represented Great Britain at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Career Katie Snowden won the girls' 800 metres event at the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games held in Douglas, Isle of Man. In 2015, she placed sixth in the women's 800 metres at the European Under-23 Championships held in Tallinn, Estonia. The 2010 British Athletics Championships was the national championship in outdoor track and field for athletes in the United Kingdom, held from 25–27 June at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. Holly Bradshaw
Holly Bethan Bradshaw (née Bleasdale, born 2 November 1991) is a British track and field athlete who specialises in the pole vault. She is the current British record holder in the event indoors and outdoors, with clearances of 4.87 metres (2012 indoors) and 4.90 metres (2021 outdoors). Bradshaw won a bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She also won bronze at the 2012 World Indoor Championships, gold at the 2013 European Indoor Championships, bronze at the 2018 European Championships, and silver at the 2019 European Indoor Championships. Pole vaulting, also known as pole jumping, is a track and field event in which an athlete uses a long and flexible pole, usually made from fiberglass or carbon fiber, as an aid to jump over a bar. Pole jumping competitions were known to the Mycenaean Greeks, Minoan Greeks and Celts. It has been a full medal event at the Olympic Games since 1896 for men and since 2000 for women. It is typically classified as one of the four major jumping events in athletics, alongside the high jump, long jump and triple jump. It is unusual among track and field sports in that it requires a significant amount of specialised equipment in order to participate, even at a basic level. Molly Caudery
Molly Caudery (born 17 March 2000) is a British athlete who competes in the pole vault event for England and Great Britain. Caudery is the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships, 2024 World Indoor champion. She was also a silver medalist at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Athletics career In 2017, Caudery won the silver medal at the 2017 European Athletics U20 Championships in Grosseto, Italy. On 17 February 2018, she won her first senior title, indoors, at the age of seventeen. Daryll Neita
Daryll Neita (born 29 August 1996) is a British sprinter. In 2022, she won her first individual international medals, with bronze in the 100 metres at both the European Championships and Commonwealth Games. Neita claimed bronze for the 60 metres at the 2023 European Indoor Championships. She has won several medals as part of Great Britain 4 × 100 m relay teams, including Olympic bronze medals in 2016 and 2021, World Championships silver medals in 2017 and 2019, and European gold in 2018. Geraldina "Dina" Rachel Asher-Smith, (; born 4 December 1995) is a British sprinter. She is the fastest British woman on record. She won a gold medal in the 200 metres, silver in the 100 metres and another silver in the 4×100 m relay at the 2019 World Championships, breaking her own British records with further records which still stand. Aged 24, Asher-Smith was the first Briton to win three medals at a World Championships. She earned a bronze in the 200 m at the 2022 World Championships. Wind Assistance
In track and field, wind assistance is the benefit that an athlete receives during a race or event as registered by a wind gauge. Wind is one of many forms of weather that can affect sport. Due to a tailwind helping to enhance the speed of the athlete in events like certain sprint races ( 100 and 200 metres), 100/ 110 metres hurdles, the triple jump and the long jump, there is a limit to how much assisting wind the athlete may perform under if the performance is to establish a record. If a tail wind exceeds the result cannot be registered as a record on any level. However, the results within that competition still are valid because all athletes in a race would get equal assistance, and in field events it is just the luck of the circumstance at the moment of the attempt. John Regis (athlete)
John Paul Lyndon Regis, MBE (born 13 October 1966) is an English former sprinter. During his career, he won gold medals in the 200 metres at the 1989 World Indoor Championships and the 1990 European Championships, and a silver medal in the distance at the 1993 World Championships. He was a member of the British teams which won the gold medal in the 4 × 400 metres relay at the 1991 World Championships, and the silver medal in the 4 × 100 metres relay at the 1988 Olympic Games. Regis is still the British 200 metres record-holder, which he set in 1994. Career Regis's most significant successes in individual events came when competing in the 200 metres.
