2023 BAL Nile Conference
The Nile Conference of the 2023 BAL season is played from 26 April to 6 May 2023 and will be played in the Hassan Moustafa Sports Hall in 6th of October, Cairo, Egypt. The four highest-ranked teams advance to the 2023 BAL Playoffs where they will each meet a team from the Nile Conference in the quarter-finals. Standings Games 26 April Al Ahly won their inaugural game in the BAL behind debutant Nuni Omot who scored 21 points for his team. 27 April 29 April Petro de Luanda defeated Ferroviário by a wide margin, with twelve of Petro's players scoring at least three points. 2023 BAL Season
The 2023 BAL season, also known as BAL Season 3, is the third season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The season began on 11 March 2023 and will end on 27 May 2023, with the playoffs and finals being played in the BK Arena in Kigali, which hosts the finals for a third season in a row. The regular season is played in Dakar, Senegal (Sahara Conference) and Cairo, Egypt (Nile Conference) for a second year in a row. The qualification games for the season, the Road to BAL, began on 11 October 2022. The winners of the 2023 BAL season will automatically qualify for the 2023 FIBA Intercontinental Cup Singapore. US Monastir are the defending champions, having won their first title in the previous season. Qualification The first round of the qualifying stage consists of 20 teams that play in four groups of five, each held in different cities. Falando Cortez Jones (born May 17, 1990) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the City Oilers of the Ugandan NBL and the Basketball Africa League (BAL). He was the scoring champion of the BAL in the 2023 season. Ater James "AJ" Majok (born 4 July 1987) is a professional basketball player for Al Riyadi Club Beirut of the Lebanese Basketball League. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2011 NBA draft with the 58th overall pick. He represents Lebanon internationally. High school and college career Majok was born in Sudan in 1987. Aboubakar Pedro Gakou (born 27 May 1997) is an Angolan basketball player who plays for Petro de Luanda and the Angola national team. Standing at , he plays as power forward. Gakou started his career with Petro in 2015 and has won four national championships with the team since, while being a two-time MVP winner as well.
