2023 Asia Cup
The 2023 Asia Cup will be the 16th edition of the Asia Cup, with the matches to be played as One Day Internationals (ODIs) in with hosts to be announced. The tournament will be played by 6 teams, and is scheduled to be held in September 2023 as a preparatory series before the 2023 Cricket World Cup. Sri Lanka are the defending champions. The five full members of the Asian Cricket Council will take part in the tournament: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. They will be joined by the champions of the qualification tournament. In January 2023, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced the pathway structure and calendar for 2023 and 2024, where they confirmed the dates and format of the tournament. Asian Cricket Council
The Asian Cricket Council also known as ACC is a cricket organisation which was established in 1983, to promote and develop the sport of cricket in Asia. Subordinate to the International Cricket Council, the council is the continent's regional administrative body, and currently consists of 26 member associations. Jay Shah is the current president of Asian Cricket Council. History The council was formed as the Asian Cricket Conference in New Delhi, India, on 19 September 1983, with the original members being Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, and Sri Lanka. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). 2023 ACC Men's Premier Cup
The 2023 ACC Men's Premier Cup was a cricket tournament which took place in April and May 2023. It was the inaugural edition of the ACC Men's Premier Cup, and it served as the final stage of qualification for the 2023 Asia Cup tournament. It was held in Nepal, with the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground and Mulpani Cricket Stadium hosting matches. The winner of the tournament qualified for the 2023 Asia Cup. The top three teams including also qualified for the 2023 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. The Asian Cricket Council announced the schedule for the tournament on 23 March 2023. Bahrain and Saudi Arabia qualified to participate in this tournament as the top two teams in the 2023 ACC Men's Challenger Cup, where Saudi Arabia had beaten Bahrain by 10 wickets in the final. 2008 Asia Cup
The 2008 Asia Cup (also called Star Cricket Asia Cup) was a One Day International (ODI) cricket tournament, held in Pakistan from 24 June to 6 July 2008, at two venues. The six teams which took part in the tournament were India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Asian associate nations UAE and Hong Kong. This was the first Asia Cup hosted by Pakistan; previously political tensions between India and Pakistan did not permit Pakistan to host the event in 1993. It was broadcast in India by Star Cricket and ESPN and in Pakistan by Geo Super. Sri Lanka won the tournament after beating India by 100 runs in the final. Jay Shah
Jay Amitbhai Shah (born 22 September 1988) is an Indian businessman and cricket administrator. He became the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary in 2019. He is also the president of Asian Cricket Council. He is the son of Amit Shah, India's Minister of Home Affairs. Early life Jay Shah was born to Amit Shah, an Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party, and Sonal Shah on 22 September 1988. He graduated from Nirma University with a B.Tech. He underwent cricket training in Ahmedabad under Jayendra Sehgal. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the national governing body for cricket in India. Its headquarters are situated at Cricket centre, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
