2023 Alpine Skiing World Cup – Men's Downhill
The men's downhill in the 2023 FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup consisted of ten events, including the final. The season had been planned with fourteen downhills, but early in the season, two scheduled downhills on 29/30 October 2022 on the Matterhorn, running from Switzerland (Zermatt) into Italy (Cervinia), were canceled due to lack of snow and not rescheduled. Later in the season, a downhill scheduled for Garmisch-Partenkirchen on 28 January 2023 was also cancelled for lack of snow and not rescheduled. Finally, on 3 March, a scheduled downhill at Aspen was canceled due to poor visibility and deteriorating weather conditions, even though 24 racers had already started. The first out of the starting gate, Norway's Adrian Smiseth Sejersted, held the lead and was hoping for six more competitors to start so that the race would become official, but the weather conditions prevented that. Downhill (ski Competition)
Downhill is a form of alpine skiing competition. Whereas the other alpine skiing events (Slalom skiing, slalom, Giant slalom skiing, giant slalom, Super Giant Slalom skiing, super giant slalom, and alpine skiing combined, combined) emphasize turning and technique, downhill emphasizes "the six components of technique, courage, speed, risk, physical condition and judgement", according to the International Ski Federation, FIS "International Ski Competition Rules (ICR)".. Vincent Kriechmayr
Vincent Kriechmayr (born 1 October 1991) is an Austrian World Cup alpine ski racer and specializes in the speed events of super-G and downhill. Kriechmayr is the 2021 world champion in both speed events, super-G and downhill. Career Born in Linz, Upper Austria, Kriechmayr made his World Cup debut in December 2010 at age nineteen. He achieved his first World Cup podium in March 2015, a runner-up finish in super-G at Kvitfjell, Norway. He achieved his first World Cup victory in a super-G in December 2017 at Beaver Creek, Colorado. His fourth World Cup victory came in the classic downhill at Wengen in 2019. The Lauberhorn ski races (Lauberhorn World Cup alpine ski races (german: Lauberhornrennen) (downhill, slalom, and combined) are among the highest-attended winter sports events in the world, attracting around 30,000 spectators each year. Val Gardena
Val Gardena (; german: Gröden ; lld, Gherdëina ) is a valley in Northern Italy, in the Dolomites of South Tyrol. It is best known as a tourist skiing, rock climbing, and woodcarving area. Geography The valley's main river is the Derjon, a tributary of the Eisack river. The mountains that surround the valley are formed by dolomite rocks, which confer on them a characteristic appearance. Most of the steep slopes are covered by pine woods. The Lake Louise Ski Resort & Summer Gondola is a ski resort in western Canada, located in Banff National Park near the village of Lake Louise, Alberta. World Junior Alpine Skiing Championships 2023
The 2023 World Junior Alpine Skiing Championships were held at St Anton am Arlberg Ski Resort in St Anton am Arlberg, Austria from 19 to 25 January 2023. For the first time, the Alpine combined was held as a team event. It was the fourth time that a World Junior Alpine Skiing Championship was held in Austria after the editions in 1986, 1997 and 2007. L’Éclipse is a Downhill (ski competition), downhill ski course in Courchevel, France, opened in 2022. It was designed by Bruno Tuaire and Hannes Trinkl and built for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2023, 2023 World Championships, and will host five men's Alpine skiing, alpine events.
