Stelvio (ski Course)
Stelvio is a World Cup downhill ski course in northern Italy, considered as second hardest in the world. Located on Vallecetta mountain in Bormio, it debuted at the World Championships in 1985. Widely considered as the second most difficult and scariest downhill course in the world, after the Streif at Kitzbühel, many consider it even as the toughest downhills of all. It hosted two World Championships (1985, 2005), and three World Cup finals (1995, 2000, 2008). Pirmin Zurbriggen
Pirmin Zurbriggen (born 4 February 1963) is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from Switzerland. One of the most successful ski racers ever, he won the overall World Cup title four times, an Olympic gold medal in 1988 in Downhill, and nine World Championships medals (4 gold, 4 silver, 1 bronze). Biography Zurbriggen was born in Saas-Almagell in the canton of Valais, the son of Alois, an innkeeper, and Ida. His father competed as a ski racer in local competitions in the 1940s and 1950s, but quit the sport after his brother was killed in a training accident. Zurbriggen made his World Cup debut in January 1981, a month before his 18th birthday. With his victory in the downhill at Kitzbühel in January 1985 at age 21, he became the first to win World Cup races in all five disciplines. Daron Rahlves
Daron Louis Rahlves (born June 12, 1973) is a former American World Cup alpine ski racer and freestyle skier. Biography Born in Walnut Creek, California, and raised in Northern California, Rahlves attended the Green Mountain Valley School in Vermont and currently resides in Truckee, California. He retired from racing at the end of the 2006 season with twelve World Cup victories and a world championship. Rahlves earned three World Championships medals, a gold in 2001 in the Super-G and a silver and bronze (downhill and giant slalom) in 2005. His best year in the overall World Cup standings was 2006, when he finished fourth. Rahlves' best years in the downhill standings were 2003 and 2004, when he placed second. Giorgio Rocca
Giorgio Rocca (born 6 August 1975) is an Italian former alpine skier, a specialist in slalom skiing. Together with Marc Girardelli, Ingemar Stenmark and Marcel Hirscher, he is one of four skiers to have won 5 Alpine Skiing World Cup slaloms in a row, which he achieved in the 2005/2006 season: only Alberto Tomba (7) has won more World Cup slaloms consecutively. Aksel Lund Svindal
Aksel Lund Svindal (born 26 December 1982) is a Norwegian former World Cup alpine ski racer. Born in Lørenskog in Akershus county, Svindal is a two-time overall World Cup champion (2007 and 2009), an Olympic gold medalist in super-G at the 2010 Winter Olympics and in downhill at the 2018 Winter Olympics, and a five-time World Champion in downhill, giant slalom, and super combined ( 2007 Åre, 2009 Val-d'Isère, 2011 Garmisch, and 2013 Schladming). Michael Walchhofer
Michael Walchhofer (born 28 April 1975) is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from Austria. Biography Walchhofer was born in Radstadt, Salzburg, Austria, and started his career in slalom, but then moved over to the speed events. During his career he won the World Cup season title in downhill three times, an Olympic silver medal, and one gold, two silvers, and a bronze medal at World Championships. Samuel Bode Miller ( ; born October 12, 1977) is an American former World Cup alpine ski racer. He is an Olympic and World Championship gold medalist, a two-time overall World Cup champion in 2005 and 2008, and the most successful male American alpine ski racer of all time. Marc Girardelli (born 18 July 1963) is an Austrian and Luxembourgish former alpine ski racer, a five-time World Cup overall champion who excelled in all five alpine disciplines. Markus Wasmeier (; born 9 September 1963 is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from Germany. He was world champion and twice Olympic champion. At the 1985 World Championships at Bormio, Italy, he won the Giant Slalom at age 21, before recording a World Cup victory.
