2023 AFL Rising Star
The AFL Rising Star award is given annually to a standout young player in the Australian Football League (AFL). In 2023, the award was won by player Harry Sheezel. Eligibility Every round, a nomination is given to a standout young player who performed well during that particular round. To be eligible for nomination, a player must be under 21 on 1 January of that year and have played ten or fewer senior games before the start of the season; a player who is suspended may be nominated, but is not eligible to win the award. Nominations *ineligible to win the Rising Star due to suspension. Will Ashcroft
William Ashcroft (born 6 May 2004) is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Brisbane Lions Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was taken as pick number 2, under the father–son rule. Ashcroft began playing football as a child at the age of six. The son of Marcus Ashcroft, a three-time AFL premiership player, Ashcroft's talent as a footballer was identified by the Gold Coast Suns Football Club at the age of ten. He played for various teams in Queensland as a child, before moving to Melbourne in 2019 at the age of 15 where he commenced playing for the Sandringham Dragons. Jye Amiss ( ; born 31 July 2003) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the Fremantle Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Career 2022: Debut Season Amiss was drafted with Fremantle's first selection, the 8th overall, in the 2021 national draft. He made his debut in round 8 of the 2022 AFL season against kicking two goals on debut, including a goal with his first kick. Amiss suffered a kidney injury while playing for Peel Thunder in the WAFL, and had to undergo surgery which saw him sidelined for 12 weeks. Cameron Ling (born 27 February 1981) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Geelong Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Kane Graham Cornes (born 5 January 1983) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Port Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).
