2022–23 UT Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros Men's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 UT Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's basketball team represented the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Vaqueros, led by second-year head coach Matt Figger, played their home games at the UTRGV Fieldhouse in Edinburg, Texas, as members of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 15–16, 6–12 in WAC Play to finish in a tie for tenth place. They were defeated by Tarleton in the first round of the WAC tournament. Previous season The Vaqueros finished the 2021–22 season 8–23, 3–15 in WAC play to finish in a tie for eleventh place. In the WAC tournament, they were defeated by California Baptist in the first round. Matt Figger
Matt Figger is an American college basketball coach and current head coach for the Texas–Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's basketball team. He previously served as the head coach at Austin Peay. Coaching career Figger got his college coaching start at Wabash Valley in 1993 as an assistant coach, before moving on to Vincennes and Odessa College to serve as an assistant coach. Figger also had assistant coaching stops at South Alabama, and Arkansas before landing on Frank Martin's staff at Kansas State. Figger followed Martin as an assistant coach to South Carolina. Figger was a part of the Gamecocks Final Four appearance in the 2017 NCAA tournament. Valka
Valka (; german: Walk) is a town and municipality in northern Latvia, on the border with Estonia along both banks of the river Pedele. Valka and the Estonian town Valga are twins, separated by the Estonian/Latvian border but using the slogan "One Town, Two Countries".
