2022–23 SDHL Season
The 2022–23 SDHL season was the sixteenth ice hockey season of the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL). The season began on 16 September 2022 and concluded on 26 February 2023. Göteborg HC withdrew from the league on 2 November 2022, reducing the number of teams to nine for the remainder of the regular season. The playoffs began on 1 March and concluded on 20 March 2023. Luleå HF/MSSK swept Brynäs IF Dam in the playoff finals to claim the club's sixth Swedish Championship title. Teams All ten teams from the 2021–22 SDHL season returned for the 2022–23 season. The increasing number of import players was reflected in the nationalities of team captains: AIK, Brynäs IF, HV71, and Luleå HF/MSSK had Finnish captains; Göteborg HC, Leksands IF, and SDE HF had Canadian captains; Linköping had a Norwegian captain; and Djurgårdens and MoDo had Swedish captains. Swedish Women's Hockey League
The Swedish Women's Hockey League ( sv, Svenska damhockeyligan), abbreviated SDHL, is the elite league for women's ice hockey in Sweden. It was established in 2007 as the by the Swedish Ice Hockey Association and was renamed prior to the 2016–17 SDHL season, 2016–17 season. The league has ten teams and employs a system of promotion and relegation with the Damettan. The unexpected withdrawal of Göteborg HC after playing only thirteen games of the 2022–23 season caused the number of teams to decrease to nine for the remainder of that season. Husqvarna Garden
The Husqvarna Garden, formerly Kinnarps Arena, is an indoor arena, primarily an ice hockey venue, in Jönköping, Sweden. History The arena, which is located in the Rosenlund district of Jönköping, was built between September 1999 and September 2000. It was literally built around and on top of the old arena Rosenlundshallen while HV71 was still playing their regular season games. Kinnarps Arena was designed by Flensborns arkitektkontor and Skanska as contractor, with Kinnarps AB financing the project. Future proprietor and owner of the arena is HV71 Fastighets AB, a subsidiary to HV71. HV71 played its first Swedish Elite League game inside the arena on 26 September 2000, defeating Luleå HF, 6–4. HV71 Dam
HV71 are a professional ice hockey club in the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL). They play in Jönköping, in the southern Swedish province of Småland, at the Husqvarna Garden. History The club was originally formed independently in March 2002 as Jönköpings IF Queens, after neither local men's SHL team HV71 nor Hockeyettan club HC Dalen were willing to start women's divisions. The club's logo was designed by 18-year old Swedish-Iranian refugee Behnaz Bahabozorgi, who would serve as the club's chairperson, the club holding practices on an outdoor rink on Saturdays. They began play in the 2003–04 Damettan season, finishing last in the southern division. Hovet (formerly known as Johanneshovs Isstadion or, in English: Johanneshov Stadium) is an arena located in the Johanneshov district of Stockholm (Stockholm Globe City) which is mainly used for ice hockey, concerts and corporate events. Djurgården IF Hockey Dam are a professional ice hockey club in the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL). They play in Stockholm at Hovet. The team is a section within the Djurgårdens IF multi-sport organization and are affiliated with its many other teams. History In March 2014, the Djurgårdens IF organisation announced its intention to form a women's ice hockey section, with Danijela Rundqvist in charge of recruitment and Jared Cipparone serving as head coach.
