2022–23 Nitro Rallycross Championship
The 2022–23 Nitro Rallycross Championship was the second season of Nitro Rallycross (Nitro RX) competition. Series founder Travis Pastrana entered as the defending champion. The season saw the debut of the Group E class for the new FC1-X car. Schedule The full schedule was revealed on March 29, 2022. After exclusively competing in North America in 2021, the series expanded to include races in six countries across two calendar years for its second season. A round at the KymiRing in Finland was canceled due to the track's financial problems. On November 7, 2022, it was announced that the round at Wild Horse Pass would be a double header, while the round in Saudi Arabia was removed from the schedule on the series' website. On January 13, 2023, the series announced that the finale would be a double header, held again at Glen Helen Raceway in California. Nitro Rallycross
Nitrocross is an American rallycross racing series. Created by rallycross driver Travis Pastrana and the ''Nitro Circus'' production in 2018, its inaugural season began in 2021. The championship is sanctioned by the United States Auto Club. History From 2018 to 2019, rallycross was a sport in the Nitro World Games at Utah Motorsports Campus. In late 2020, it expanded into its own series with plans of running the inaugural season in 2021 and debuting an electric class in 2022. Although American rallycross leagues like the Global Rallycross Championship and Americas Rallycross Championship had failed, Nitrocross founder Pastrana envisioned the series as an inexpensive discipline that did not need to rely on heavy manufacturer support. Andreas Bakkerud
Andreas Bakkerud (born 10 October 1991) is a rallycross driver from Bergen, Norway. He has competed in the FIA Rallycross Supercar class since 2013 in both Euro RX and World RX, Nitro Rallycross since 2021, and Extreme E since 2023. He became European Champion in 2021. He is not related to former DTM driver Christian Bakkerud. Biography Bakkerud won the FIA European Rallycross Championship in the Super1600 category twice, in 2011 and 2012. He entered the FIA European Rallycross Supercar class in 2013 with a private Citroën DS3, finishing fourth with two wins. In 2014 he joined the FIA World Rallycross Championship Supercar class, driving a Ford-supported Olsbergs MSE Fiesta. He got two wins and three second-place finishes, and placed fifth in the overall standings. The Circuit Trois-Rivières is a street circuit in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada. The circuit has been the home of the annual Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, the longest-running street race in North America, since 1967.
