2022 United States Senate Election In Pennsylvania
The 2022 United States Senate election in Pennsylvania was held on November 8, 2022, to elect a member of the United States Senate to represent the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Democratic lieutenant governor John Fetterman won his first term in office, defeating Republican surgeon Mehmet Oz. Fetterman will succeed incumbent Republican senator Pat Toomey, who did not seek re-election after two terms. The election marked the only U.S. Senate seat to flip parties in the 2022 midterms. In the May 17 primary, Fetterman won the Democratic nomination with 59% of the vote. Oz finished with a 0.1% difference ahead of businessman David McCormick in the Republican primary, triggering an automatic recount. John Fetterman
John Karl Fetterman (born August 15, 1969) is an American politician who is the United States senator-elect from Pennsylvania. A member of the Democratic Party, he has also served as the 34th lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania since 2019. Fetterman was the mayor of Braddock, Pennsylvania from 2006 to 2019. Generally described as a progressive, Fetterman advocates healthcare as a right, criminal justice reform, abolishing capital punishment, raising the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour, and legalizing cannabis. Beginning his professional career in the insurance industry, Fetterman studied finance at Albright College and earned an MBA from the University of Connecticut. He went on to join AmeriCorps and earned a Master of Public Policy degree from Harvard. Jenkintown is a borough in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It is approximately 10 miles (16 km) north of Center City Philadelphia. History The community was named for William Jenkins, a Welsh pioneer settler. Jenkintown is located just outside Philadelphia along the Route 611 corridor between Abington and Cheltenham Townships. Braddock is a borough located in the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. It is upstream from the mouth of the Monongahela River.
