2022 USF2000 Championship
The 2022 USF2000 Championship was the thirteenth season of the USF2000 Championship since its revival in 2010. The championship serves as the first rung of the IndyCar Series's Road to Indy ladder system. An 18 race schedule was announced on October 5, 2021 featuring five permanent road courses, two street circuits, and a single oval in the Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. Michael d'Orlando won the championship after surpassing both Myles Rowe and Jace Denmark in championship points during the final race of the season. The USF2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires is an American racing series using the American variation of the Formula Ford formula, "F2000", that resumed operation for the 2010 season. As of 2022, it is sanctioned by the United States Auto Club, and is the first rung of the Road to Indy. History Andersen/Foschi era The series was initially founded by Doug Powell in 1990, and regularly fielded over 60 entries per race. In the first seasons the series was mainly based in the western part of the United States sanctioned by the United States Auto Club. For 1992 the series started a Western Division and an Eastern Division, the Eastern Division being headed by Dan Andersen and Mike Foschi. In the 1992 season the race at Indianapolis Raceway Park (Night before the 500) and the race at Heartland Park Topeka (East-West Shootout) counted towards both championships and attracted huge fields. August Uihlein Pabst III is a former racing driver and current team owner of Pabst Racing. He is also the great-great grandson of Frederick Pabst, founder of the Pabst Brewing Company, and the great-great grandson of August Uihlein of Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company. Daniel Dyszelski IV (born April 10, 2008) is an American racing driver. He is currently competing in the 2024 USF Pro 2000 Championship driving for Turn 3 Motorsport. Lachlan "Lochie" Hughes (born 15 March 2002) is an Australian racing driver. He currently competes in the 2023 USF2000 Championship driving for Jay Howard Driver Development. Jay Howard (born 16 February 1981) is a British professional race car driver who competes in the IndyCar Series and Indianapolis 500 and resides in Indianapolis, Indiana.
