The 2022 Super League of Malawi (known as the TNM Super League for sponsorship reasons) was the 36th season of the Super League of Malawi, the top professional league for association football clubs in Malawi since its establishment in 1986. The season started on 19 March 2022 and was ended on 19 November 2022. Nyasa Big Bullets are the defending champions. Nyasa Big Bullets retained the Super League title following their 3–1 win over Moyale Barracks on 12 November 2022. Teams Sixteen teams competed in the league – the top thirteen teams from the previous season and the three promoted teams from the regional leagues: Rumphi United, Dedza Dynamos and Sable Farming. ;Other changes * Mighty Wanderers were renamed as Mighty Mukuru Wanderers during the season. Super League of Malawi, also known as the TNM Super League for sponsorship reasons, is the top football division in Malawi. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Malawi Regional Football Leagues. Malawian mobile telecommunications company TNM sponsors the league with K65 million annually. History It was created in 1986 and was first sponsored by Gillet Nacet. It was composed of eight teams: five teams from Blantyre and Districts Football League (BDFL) and three teams from Lilongwe and Districts Football League (LDFL). The eight inaugural members of the Super League of Malawi were Bata Bullets, Limbe Leaf Wanderers, MDC United, Red Lions, ADMARC Tigers, Silver Strikers, Civo United and MITCO. Blantyre () is Malawi's centre of finance and commerce, and its second largest city, with an enumerated 800,264 inhabitants . It is sometimes referred to as the commercial and industrial capital of Malawi as opposed to the political capital, Lilongwe. It is the capital of the country's Southern Region as well as the Blantyre District. History Blantyre was founded in 1876 through the missionary work of the Church of Scotland. Ekwendeni Hammers
Ekwendeni is a town in the Northern Region of Malawi. It lies about from Mzuzu, in the Mzimba district. In 1889 Walter Angus Elmslie opened a mission station at eKwendeni. It has one of the oldest churches in Malawi belonging to the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP), the local equivalent of the Church of Scotland. The general hospital began in the 1890s as a ministry of the Free Church of Scotland. Ekwendeni Hospital is operated by the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian – Synod of Livingstonia, in partnership with the Presbyterian Church (USA), the Church of Scotland and the Presbyterian Church of Ireland.
