2022 South Korean Local Elections
The 8th local elections were held in South Korea on 1 June 2022. These elections came after the presidential election in March 2022, and coincided with the by-elections for the vacant seats in the National Assembly. It was the first nationwide election under President Yoon Suk-yeol after taking office on 10 May. Percentage Point
A percentage point or percent point is the unit (measurement), unit for the Difference (mathematics), arithmetic difference between two percentages. For example, moving up from 40 percent to 44 percent is an increase of 4 percentage points, but a 10-percent increase in the quantity being measured. In literature, the unit is usually either written out, or abbreviated as ''pp'' or ''p.p.'' to avoid ambiguity. After the first occurrence, some writers abbreviate by using just "point" or "points". Byeon Sung-wan
Byeon Sung-wan (; born 5 September 1965) is a South Korean politician served as Acting Mayor of Busan from 2020 to 2021. After passing the state exam in 1994, Byeon has dedicated his career in public service - mostly at now-Ministry of the Interior and Safety and Busan City government. Byeon served as the last administrator for protocol to President Roh Moo-hyun. After working at the Interior Ministry's department for local government taxation and its Office for Planning and Coordination, he served as the head of Planning & Coordination Office of Busan City government under conservative Mayor Suh Byung-soo. Park Heong-joon
Park Heong-joon (; born 19 January 1960) is a South Korean journalist, educator and politician. He was a former professor of the Sociology Department and Graduate School of International Studies at Dong-a University from 1 September 1991 to 12 March 2021. He has been the Mayor of Busan since 8 April 2021. He was elected to the position in the by-election a day before that was provoked following the resignation of Oh Keo-don due to the allegations of sexual harassment. He successfully defeated the Democratic candidate Kim Young-choon with a large margin. Basic Income Party
The Basic Income Party (, BIP) is a single-issue political party in South Korea advocating for a universal basic income (UBI). History The Basic Income Party came into existence when the ninth leadership board of the Labor Party led by Yong Hye-in resigned on 15 July. Before the official founding of the party on 19 January 2020, the Basic Income Party began establishing local chapters of the party across the cities and provinces of South Korea with the catch phrase ₩"600,000 a month for all." The party announced via their Facebook page on 7 November that they reached 5,000 members. The party officially registered with the National Election Commission on 19 January 2020. Oh Se-hoon (Korean: 오세훈, Hanja: 吳世勳; born January 4, 1961) is a South Korean politician who is currently the serving Mayor of Seoul since 8 April 2021. He also previously served as a member of the National Assembly of South Korea from 2000 to 2004, and the mayor of Seoul from 2006 to 2011. Oh is a lawyer by profession. The Progressive Party (), known as the Minjung Party () until June 2020, is a left-wing nationalist political party in South Korea. The Minsaeng Party () is a Conservative liberalism, conservative liberal political party in South Korea based in the Honam region.
