Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras (), commonly known as Palmeiras, is a Brazilian professional football club based in the city of São Paulo, in the district of Perdizes. Palmeiras is one of the most popular clubs in South America, with around 18 million supporters and more than 80,000 affiliated fans. Gustavo Raúl Gómez Portillo (; born 6 May 1993) is a Paraguayan footballer who currently plays as a defender for and captains the Brazilian Serie A club Palmeiras and the Paraguay national team. Club career Lanús Gómez is considered one of the most promising defenders of Paraguay, who began his playing career at Libertad. Gustavo Henrique Furtado Scarpa (born 5 January 1994) is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Premier League club Nottingham Forest. Club career Fluminense Scarpa was born in Hortolândia, São Paulo, and played for Guarani, Santos, Paulínia, and Desportivo Brasil before joining Fluminense in 2012. Miguel Ángel Merentiel Serrano (born 24 February 1996) is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays as a forward for Argentine Primera División club Boca Juniors.
