San Jose Earthquakes
The San Jose Earthquakes are an American professional soccer team based in San Jose, California. The Earthquakes compete as a member club of the Western Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS). Originally as the San Jose Clash, the franchise began play in 1996 as one of the charter members of the league. The Earthquakes took part in the first game in MLS history, defeating D.C. United 1–0. The Earthquakes have won two MLS Cup titles (2001, 2003) and two Supporters' Shields (2005, 2012). In 2002, the team played in its first CONCACAF Champions Cup (now called the CONCACAF Champions League), making it to the quarterfinals. Generation Adidas
Generation Adidas is a joint venture between Major League Soccer and U.S. Soccer aimed at raising the level of young professional soccer talent in the United States. The program, sponsored by Adidas, offers professional-ready players in the U.S. developmental system not yet eligible for the MLS SuperDraft early entry, allowing MLS to compete with foreign professional clubs without comparable restrictions on player signing. From its establishment in 1997 to 2005, the program was sponsored by Nike and was called ''Project-40''. Oskar Ågren
Oskar Ågren (born 28 April 2000) is a Swedish professional footballer who plays as a defender for Colorado Springs Switchbacks on loan from Major League Soccer club San Jose Earthquakes. Career Youth, College & Amateur Ågren played semi-professionally for LB07's first team from 2014. In 2019, Ågren moved to the United States to play college soccer at Clemson University. The Philadelphia Union are an American professional soccer club based in Chester, Pennsylvania. The Union compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Eastern Conference. Founded on February 28, 2008, the club began playing in 2010 as an expansion team. Jamiro Gregory Monteiro Alvarenga (born 23 November 1993), commonly known as Jamiro, is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Major League Soccer club San Jose Earthquakes. Francisco Javier Calvo Quesada (born 8 July 1992) is a Costa Rican professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Konyaspor and the Costa Rica national team. Nikolas Diego Tsakiris (born June 19, 2005) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Major League Soccer club San Jose Earthquakes. Career Youth Tsakiris started playing academy soccer with De Anza Force. In 2015, at the age of 10, he moved to Florida to play with IMG Academy. 2022 MLS SuperDraft
The 2022 MLS SuperDraft was the 23rd edition of the SuperDraft conducted by Major League Soccer. The SuperDraft is held every January prior to the start of the MLS season and has been conducted via conference calls since 2020. Previously, the SuperDraft had been held in conjunction with the annual January United Soccer Coaches convention. Since 2021, the SuperDraft consists of three rounds. Teams that received fourth-round picks for this draft via past trades received compensatory picks instead. Of the 75 players selected in the SuperDraft, 28 were signed by MLS teams—most of them from the first round picks. Ousseni Bouda
Ousseni Bouda (born 28 April 2000) is a Burkinabé professional footballer who plays for Major League Soccer club San Jose Earthquakes. Bouda was the recipient of the Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year award for the 2017–18 season. The award is a nationally recognized honor given to the best high school athlete in each sport in the United States. Homegrown Player Rule (MLS)
The Homegrown Player Rule is a Major League Soccer program that allows MLS teams to sign local players from their own development academies directly to MLS first team rosters. Before the creation of the rule in 2008, every player entering Major League Soccer would have to be assigned through one of the existing MLS player allocation processes, such as the MLS SuperDraft. MLS roster rules allow a team to sign players to contracts similar to Generation adidas contracts, which do not count against the MLS salary budget and may earn a much higher salary than the league minimum. MLS has since removed this wording from the roster rules. That means homegrown players will not count against the salary budget only if they are registered using supplemental roster slots, but will still count against the salary budget if they are registered using senior roster slots. Stanford Cardinal Men's Soccer
The Stanford Cardinal men's soccer team represents Stanford University in all NCAA Division I men's college soccer competitions. The Cardinal play in the Pac-12 Conference. Their first season as a varsity program was in 1973. The Cardinal have appeared in the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament 17 times since 1973, including 14 times in the 23 seasons from 1997 to 2019.
