The 2022 Polish Speedway season was the 2002 season of speedway in Poland. Lublin won the Ekstraliga and were awarded the gold medal and declared Polish Team Champions. Teams finishing second and third are awarded silver and bronze medals respectively. Krosno won the 1. Liga and were promoted to the Ekstraliga and Poznań won the 2. Liga. Motorcycle Speedway
Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Competitors use this surface to slide their machines sideways, powersliding or broadsiding into the bends. On the straight sections of the track, the motorcycles reach speeds of up to . Polonia Bydgoszcz is a Polish sports club based in Bydgoszcz most known for its speedway team ŻKS Polonia Bydgoszcz which currently races in the 1. Liga. The club has won the Polish Speedway League Championship seven times, the latest in 2002, and European Team Championship three times, the latest in 2001. The club also has a football team that plays in the lower leagues, though it was more successful in the past. Unia Tarnów is a Polish motorcycle speedway club from Tarnów in Poland. The team compete in the Polish Speedway Second League (2. Liga). and have won the Team Speedway Polish Championship three times. History 1957 to 1989 The club was founded 1957 as a section of a multi-sports club of the same name, which was founded in 1928. It would not be until 2001 that the club became a separate entity but retained the same historic name. The first honour was winning the second division in 1963. Kolejarz Rawicz (Railwayman Rawicz) is a motorcycle speedway team based in Rawicz, Poland. They currently race in the Polish Speedway Second League (2. Liga). History The club competed in the inaugural 1948 Polish speedway season, under the name of Motoklub Rawicz. The club's first team honour was winning the bronze medal in the Team Speedway Polish Championship in 1954 and the following season they went one better after winning the silver medal in 1955. Their leading rider Florian Kapała won the Polish Individual Speedway Championship in 1953 and 1956. The club was disbanded after the 1959 season and was not reformed until 1996. Kolejarz Opole (Railwayman Opole) is a motorcycle speedway team based in Opole, Poland. They currently race in the Polish Speedway Second League (2. Liga). ŻKS ROW Rybnik, also known as ROW Rybnik, is a Polish motorcycle speedway team based in Rybnik which currently competes in Extraleague (1st division). ROW Rybnik is one of the oldest and most successful teams in Polish speedway. There is a historical link to the football team Energetyk ROW Rybnik, both using the name ROW, but otherwise the clubs are completely independent of each other.
