2022 OFC U-19 Championship
The 2022 OFC U-19 Championship was the 23rd edition of the OFC U-19/U-20 Championship, the biennial international youth football championship organised by the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) for the men's under-19/under-20 national teams of Oceania. The OFC announced on 4 March 2022 that the 2021 OFC U-20 Championship (originally the 2020 OFC U-19 Championship), which would have been hosted by Samoa, had been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and Samoa would be retained to host the next edition in 2022. On 4 June 2021, the OFC announced the tournament had been moved to August from July. The top two teams of the tournament qualified for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina as the OFC representatives. Jay Herdman
Jay Joshua Herdman (born August 14, 2004) is a professional soccer player who currently plays for Whitecaps FC 2 of MLS Next Pro. Born in New Zealand, he has represented both Canada and New Zealand at youth level. Club career In March 2022, Herdman signed a contract with Whitecaps FC 2. He made his professional debut on March 26 against Houston Dynamo 2. International career Herdman is eligible for New Zealand through birth, England through parentage and Canada through residency. In April 2022 he received a call-up to the Canadian under-20 side for two friendly matches against Costa Rica. In August 2022, he was named in the New Zealand U20 squad to contest the 2022 OFC U-19 Championship in Tahiti. On 7 September 2022, Herdman made his debut for the New Zealand U20's and scored against Cook Islands U20 in an 8–0 win. 2005 OFC U-20 Championship
The 2005 OFC U-20 Championship was the fifteenth contested. It was won by Australia who qualified for the 2005 FIFA U-20 World Cup after a 3–0 victory against the Solomon Islands played at Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara, Solomon Islands. The final game was abandoned in the 77th minute due to crowd trouble, however the score was allowed to stand.
