2022 Muntinlupa Local Elections
Local elections took place in Muntinlupa on May 9, 2022 within the 2022 Philippine general election. Voters will elect the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, the congressman, and the 16 councilors, eight each in the two local legislative districts of Muntinlupa. Background Incumbent mayor Jaime Fresnedi is term-limited. Despite being eligible for a third and final consecutive term, incumbent representative Ruffy Biazon chose to run for mayor, thus switching places with Fresnedi, who will run in his place for a seat in Congress, with incumbent vice mayor Artemio Simundac as Biazon's running mate. They are running under the ticket of One Muntinlupa, a local party, with Fresnedi running under the Liberal Party. Ruffy Biazon
Rozzano Rufino Bunoan Biazon (born March 20, 1969), better known as Ruffy Biazon, is a Filipino politician currently serving as the Mayor of Muntinlupa since 2022. He previously served as Representative of Muntinlupa in the Philippine House of Representatives from 2001 to 2010 and from 2016 to 2022. He has also served as Commissioner of Bureau of Customs from 2011 to 2013. From 1991 to 1992, he also served as a board member of the Videogram Regulatory Board. He is the son of former senator Rodolfo Biazon. In Congress, he served as chairman of the Committee on Metro Manila Development, vice chairman of the Committee on National Defense and Security, vice chairman of the Committee on Information and Communications Technology, vice chairman of the Committee on Appropriations and member of the Congressional Oversight Committee on Visiting Forces Agreement. Jaime Fresnedi
Jaime dela Rosa Fresnedi (born April 27, 1950), also known as Jimmy Fresnedi, is a Filipino politician currently serving as a member of the Philippine House of Representatives representing the Lone District of Muntinlupa, Metro Manila. He served as mayor of Muntinlupa from 1998 to 2007 and from 2013 to 2022. Early and personal life Fresnedi was born on April 27, 1950. He is married to Loreta Obong, with whom he has a son named Joma and a grandson named Neo. They reside in the Villa Carolina subdivision in Tunasan, Muntinlupa. Political career Fresnedi first entered politics in 1986 when he was appointed as an officer-in-charge of Muntinlupa, then a municipality, following the People Power Revolution that formed a new government under President Corazon Aquino. The 2022 Philippine general election took place on May 9, 2022, for executive and legislative branches of the government – national, provincial, and local, except for the barangay officials. At the top of the ballot is the election for successors to Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Leni Robredo. The Bureau of Immigration ( fil, Kawanihan ng Pandarayuhan), also known between 1972 and 1987 as the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation, is the immigration regulatory and control body of the Philippines. It was established by the Philippine Immigration Act in 1940, although a predecessor agency had existed as part of the Bureau of Customs since 1899.
