2022 Monza Formula 2 Round
The 2022 Monza FIA Formula 2 round was a motor racing event held between 9 and 11 September 2022 at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, Monza, Italy. It was the penultimate race of the 2022 Formula 2 Championship and was held in support of the 2022 Italian Grand Prix. Despite retiring in the sprint race, Felipe Drugovich became the 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship#Drivers', FIA Formula 2 Drivers' Champion with three races to spare. His nearest championship rival, Théo Pourchaire, finished in seventeenth and therefore failed to score the required four points in order to remain in contention for the title. Drugovich's championship victory was the first for an MP Motorsport driver in Formula 2. Autodromo Nazionale Di Monza
The Monza Circuit ( it, Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, , National Automobile Racetrack of Monza) is a race track near the city of Monza, north of Milan, in Italy. Built in 1922, it was the world's third purpose-built motor racing circuit after Brooklands and Indianapolis and the oldest in mainland Europe. The circuit's biggest event is the Italian Grand Prix. With the exception of the 1980 running, the race has been hosted there since 1949. Built in the Royal Villa of Monza park in a woodland setting, the site has three tracks – the Grand Prix track, the Junior track, and a high speed oval track with steep bankings which was left unused for decades and had been decaying until it was restored in the 2010s. The 2022 Italian Grand Prix (officially known as the Formula 1 Pirelli Gran Premio d'Italia 2022) was a Formula One motor race held on 11 September 2022 at the Monza Circuit in Monza, Italy. Daniel Ricciardo entered the race as the defending winner, having won the previous Italian Grand Prix. The race finished with a controversial safety car period and was won by Max Verstappen, with Charles Leclerc and George Russell taking second and third place respectively. Nyck de Vries scored points with a ninth place finish on his debut. Background The event was held across the weekend of the 9–11 September. Logan Hunter Sargeant (born December 31, 2000) is an American racing driver, who most recently competed in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Carlin. He will compete for Williams Racing in the 2023 Formula One World Championship, having graduated from the Williams Driver Academy. Ayumu Iwasa
is a Japanese racing driver currently competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with DAMS. He previously raced in the FIA Formula 3 Championship with Hitech Grand Prix. Marcus Armstrong
Marcus Cornelius Armstrong (born 29 July 2000) is a New Zealand motor racing driver. He is due to compete in IndyCar on road and street courses with Chip Ganassi Racing in 2023. Previously he competed in the FIA Formula 2 Championship between 2020 and 2022. He was a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy between 2017 and 2021.
