The 2022 Maryland Comptroller election was held on November 8, 2022, to elect the next Comptroller of Maryland. Incumbent Democratic Comptroller Peter Franchot declined to run for a fifth term and instead ran unsuccessfully for Governor of Maryland. Brooke Lierman
Brooke Elizabeth Lierman (born February 14, 1979) is an American civil rights attorney and politician who is the 34th Comptroller of Maryland. She was first elected in 2022, becoming the first female Comptroller of the state and the first woman elected to an independent state government office in Maryland. She was previously a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing District 46 in Baltimore. Life and career Lierman was born in Washington, D.C. on February 14, 1979, and graduated from Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, Maryland in 1997. Gabriel Acevero
Gabriel Acevero (born October 23, 1990) is a Trinidadian–American organizer, activist and politician representing Maryland's 39th House district. On November 6, 2018, Acevero finished in first place with 31% of the vote and became the first openly gay Afro-Latino, and one of the youngest people, elected to the Maryland House of Delegates. Acevero is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America. Diana Fennell
Diana M. Fennell (born August 6, 1967) is an American politician who represents District 47A in the Maryland House of Delegates. She previously served as the mayor of Colmar Manor, Maryland from 2000 to 2010 and as a member of the Colmar Manor town council from 1995 to 2000. Background Fennell was born on August 6, 1967, in Emporia, Virginia, where she graduated from Greensville County High School. Debra M. Davis (born October 11, 1959) is an American politician who represents district 28 in the Maryland House of Delegates. Background Davis was born in Cheverly, Maryland, on October 11, 1959, where she attended Frederick Douglass High School in Croom, Maryland. Charlotte Crutchfield (born December 8, 1963) is an American politician from Maryland. She is a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates who currently represents Maryland House of Delegates District 19 in Montgomery County. Early life and career Crutchfield was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 8, 1963. Nicholas Patrick Charles II (born December 16, 1982) is an American politician who has served as a member of the Maryland Senate representing District 25 since 2023. He previously represented the district in the Maryland House of Delegates from 2019 to 2023.
