2022 Lapu-Lapu City Local Elections
Local elections were held in Lapu-Lapu City on May 9, 2022 within the Philippine general election. Registered voters of the city will be electing candidates for the following elective local posts: mayor, vice mayor, district representative, and twelve councilors. The city has its own congressional district. Mayoralty and vice mayoralty elections Mayor Incumbent mayor Junard Chan is vying for a second term. He is running against incumbent representative and former mayor Paz Radaza. Vice mayor Incumbent vice mayor Celedonio Sitoy is vying for a second term. Junard Chan
Junard "Ahong" Quirante Chan (born September 8, 1968) is a Filipino politician from Lapu-Lapu City, Philippines. He currently serves as the mayor of Lapu-Lapu City. Chan previously served as barangay captain of Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City from 2013 to 2019 and as a member of the City Council from 2001 to 2010. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Chan tested positive for COVID-19 on June 11 although he is asymptomatic at the time of confirmation. Lapu-Lapu City, officially the City of Lapu-Lapu ( ceb, Dakbayan sa Lapu-Lapu; fil, Lungsod ng Lapu-Lapu), is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines. The 2022 Philippine general election took place on May 9, 2022, for executive and legislative branches of the government – national, provincial, and local, except for the barangay officials. At the top of the ballot is the election for successors to Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Leni Robredo. Rappler (portmanteau of the words "rap" and "ripple") is a Filipino online news website based in Pasig, Metro Manila, the Philippines.
