2022 Hy-Vee IndyCar Race Weekend
The 2022 Hy-Vee IndyCar Race Weekend was a pair of IndyCar motor races held on July 23, 2022 and July 24, 2022 at Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa. They were the 11th and 12th rounds of the 2022 IndyCar season. The race weekend has been held since 2007 with a brief hiatus in 2021 after a change of focus by the owner of the track. The first race (officially the Hy-VeeDeals.com 250 presented by DoorDash) was held on July 23, 2022. The race consisted of 250 laps and was won by Josef Newgarden. The second race (officially the Hy-Vee Salute to Farmers 300 presented by Google) was held on July 24, 2022. The race consisted of 300 laps and was won by Patricio O'Ward. Each race was accompanied with concerts before and after it with Tim McGraw and Florida Georgia Line on Saturday and Gwen Stefani, and Blake Shelton performing on Sunday. Iowa Speedway
Iowa Speedway is a 7/8-mile (1.4 km) paved oval motor racing track in Newton, Iowa, United States, approximately east of Des Moines. It has over 25,000 permanent seats as well as a unique multi-tiered RV viewing area along the backstretch. The premiere event of the track is the Hy-Vee IndyCar Race Weekend held yearly in July since its inaugural running in 2007. History The track opened in September 2006 with the Soy Biodiesel 250, won by Woody Howard, for the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Four Champions playoff. The Indy Racing League announced a race there on June 24, 2007, the Iowa Corn Indy 250, which was won by Dario Franchitti, who barely nipped Marco Andretti at the finish line. The Chevrolet Indy V6 engine is a 2.2-liter, twin-turbocharged, V-6 racing engine, developed and produced by Ilmor Engineering-Chevrolet for the IndyCar Series. David Malukas
David Malukas (born September 27, 2001) is a Lithuanian-American race car driver who competes in the IndyCar Series for Dale Coyne Racing. Career Lower formula In 2016 and the early part of 2017, Malukas competed in the Formula 4 UAE Championship for Rasgaira Motorsports. He did not contest the full season but still finished sixth in the championship. Malukas would move to ADAC Formula 4 to compete for Motopark in 2017. Graham Robert Rahal (born January 4, 1989) is an American race car driver and small business owner. He currently participates in the IndyCar Series with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, a team partially owned by his father Bobby Rahal, the winner of the 1986 Indianapolis 500. Álex Palou Montalbo (; born 1 April 1997) is a Spanish racing driver who drives for Chip Ganassi Racing in the IndyCar Series, where he won the 2021 series championship. Scott Ronald Dixon (born 22 July 1980) is a professional racing driver from New Zealand, who competes in the NTT IndyCar Series for Chip Ganassi Racing. Dixon has won the IndyCar championship six times: in 2003, 2008, 2013, 2015, 2018 and 2020. He also won the 92nd Indianapolis 500 in 2008 from pole position.
