2022 GMR Grand Prix
The 2022 GMR Grand Prix was the fifth round of the 2022 IndyCar Series, 2022 IndyCar season. The race was held on May 14, 2022, in Speedway, Indiana at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The race was originally scheduled for 85 laps, but under INDYCAR rules, the race was declared a wet race at the start, meaning the race was limited to two hours. GMR Grand Prix
The IndyCar Series hosts two races a year on the combined road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana. The first, the GMR Grand Prix is held in early May with an inaugural running in 2014. The second race, the Gallagher Grand Prix is held in the summer as a support race for the NASCAR Cup Series Verizon 200 at the Brickyard and was first run in 2020. The race is run on a newer, modified layout of the circuit previously used for the Formula One United States Grand Prix, and later the Moto GP motorcycle event. The GMR Grand Prix serves as a lead-in to the Indianapolis 500. Support races are held, including Indy Lights, Pro Mazda and U.S. F2000. From 2014 to 2016, the race was known as the Grand Prix of Indianapolis, and from 2015 to 2016 it was sponsored by Angie's List. Honda Performance Development, Inc. (HPD) is a subsidiary of American Honda Motor Co. which was established in 1993 and is based in Santa Clarita, California. HMD Motorsports (formerly BN Racing) is an American racing team in the IndyCar Series and Indy Lights series. The team is owned by Henry Malukas. Dale Coyne Racing (DCR) is an American professional open-wheel racing team that currently competes in the IndyCar Series. The team was founded in 1984 and is owned by former driver Dale Coyne. From 1995 to 2000, the team was known as Payton-Coyne Racing, reflecting a partnership with Chicago Bears great Walter Payton. David Malukas (born September 27, 2001) is a Lithuanian-American race car driver who competes in the IndyCar Series for Dale Coyne Racing. Career Lower formula In 2016 and the early part of 2017, Malukas competed in the Formula 4 UAE Championship for Rasgaira Motorsports. He did not contest the full season but still finished sixth in the championship. Malukas would move to ADAC Formula 4 to compete for Motopark in 2017. Graham Robert Rahal (born January 4, 1989) is an American race car driver and small business owner. He currently participates in the IndyCar Series with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, a team partially owned by his father Bobby Rahal, the winner of the 1986 Indianapolis 500. Scott Dixon
Scott Ronald Dixon (born 22 July 1980) is a professional racing driver from New Zealand, who competes in the NTT IndyCar Series for Chip Ganassi Racing. Dixon has won the IndyCar championship six times: in 2003, 2008, 2013, 2015, 2018 and 2020. He also won the 92nd Indianapolis 500 in 2008 from pole position.
