2022 Finnish County Elections
The first county elections were held in Finland on 23 January 2022. Voters elected the council members of the 21 new Wellbeing services counties of Finland, wellbeing services counties. Residents of Helsinki were excluded from voting, as the city continues to be responsible for organizing health, social and rescue services in Helsinki. Åland was also excluded, as it is not affected by the health and social services reform. Electoral system A total of 1379 members of the 21 councils (each council consisting of 59 to 79 members) were elected using proportional representation, with seats allocated according to the d'Hondt method. Opinion polls Poll results are listed in the table below in reverse chronological order, showing the most recent first. Wellbeing Services Counties Of Finland
The wellbeing services counties (Finnish: ''hyvinvointialue'', Swedish: ''välfärdsområde'') are public bodies separate from the municipalities of Finland and the Finnish Government following the social reform instigated by the Marin Cabinet, each of which has self-government within its territory. On 23 June 2021, Parliament approved bills on social and health care reform. According to the law on the implementation of the reform, the tasks and organizational responsibility of social and health care and rescue services will be transferred from the municipalities to the counties on 1 January 2023. The first elections to the councils were held in January 2022. In order to implement regional co-operation and an appropriate service structure, five co-operation areas will be formed from the counties, which correspond to the current special areas of responsibility of university hospitals. The Finns Party, formerly known as the True Finns ( fi, Perussuomalaiset, PS, sv, Sannfinländarna, Sannf.), is a right-wing populist political party in Finland. It was founded in 1995 following the dissolution of the Finnish Rural Party. The party achieved its electoral breakthrough in the 2011 Finnish parliamentary election, when it won 19.1% of votes, becoming the third largest party in the Finnish Parliament. The Open Party (Finland)
The Open Party ( fi, Avoin Puolue, sv, Öppna Partiet) is a Finnish political party registered on 1 March 2021. The party was founded in 2020 when its founder, , resigned from the Finnish Pirate Party due to disagreements and founded a new city council group in Helsinki. According to Pennanen, the Open Party operates outside the traditional left–right spectrum. Additionally, the party has claimed to be willing to work based on the best possible scientific knowledge and cooperate with all kinds of parties.
