2022 Dutch Darts Masters
The 2022 Viaplay Dutch Darts Masters was the first staging of the tournament by the Professional Darts Corporation, and the third entry in the 2022 World Series of Darts. The tournament featured 16 players (eight PDC players and eight Dutch qualifiers) and was held at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Netherlands on 24–25 June 2022. Dimitri Van den Bergh won his second consecutive World Series title after defeating Dirk van Duijvenbode 8–2 in the final. Prize money The total prize fund was £60,000. Qualifiers On the announcement of the tournament on 11 April, the PDC confirmed the 8 players who would be their 'elite' representatives at the event, including Fallon Sherrock, who was denied her chance to appear on the 2020 World Series of Darts circuit, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ziggo Dome
The Ziggo Dome ( or ) is an indoor arena in Amsterdam, Netherlands, located next to the Johan Cruijff ArenA. It is named after the Dutch cable TV provider Ziggo. In 2014, the Ziggo Dome Awards were announced, recognizing artists who performed at the arena. Architecture The Ziggo Dome was designed by Benthem Crouwel Architects. Although the name 'Dome' refers to a dome, there are no round shapes. The building has the shape of a square block; the size is 90 by 90 meters, with a height of 30 meters. On the outside, the Ziggo Dome, on a black background, is fully lined with a total of 840,000 LEDs, where video images can be displayed. Fallon Sherrock
Fallon Sherrock (born 2 July 1994) is an English professional darts player who plays in World Darts Federation (WDF) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Born in Milton Keynes, Sherrock reached the final of the 2015 BDO Women's World Darts Championship, where she was runner-up to Lisa Ashton. In 2019, Sherrock became the first female player to win a match, and subsequently, two consecutive matches, at the PDC World Championships, first by beating Ted Evetts 3–2 in the first round, and then Mensur Suljović 3–1 in the second round, before eventually losing 2–4 to Chris Dobey in the third round. The event saw her earn the nickname "Queen of the Palace" from the name of the venue, the Alexandra Palace. World Series Of Darts
The World Series of Darts is a series of darts tournaments organised by the Professional Darts Corporation. Beginning in 2013, the World Series has comprised between two and seven tournaments across the world, where a mixture of the top-ranked PDC players take on local qualifiers in a knockout format. Since 2015, there has been a finals tournament held annually in November at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow, Scotland, although in 2018, it moved to the Multiversum Schwechat in Vienna, Austria, and moved again to the AFAS Live in Amsterdam, Netherlands in 2019, then to the Salzburgarena, Salzburg in 2020. Rod Harrington
Rodney Harrington (born 30 December 1957) is an English former professional darts player and former commentator. He used the nickname "The Prince of Style" for his matches, often wearing a suit and waistcoat for his games. Harrington enjoyed some major success during his professional career including the prestigious Winmau World Masters in 1991 and two successive World Matchplays in 1998 and 1999. 2020 World Series Of Darts
The 2020 World Series of Darts was a series of planned televised darts tournaments organised by the Professional Darts Corporation. In 2020, there were set to be 5 World Series events and one finals event, which for 2020 was moved from Amsterdam, Netherlands to Salzburg, Austria. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic no events were held before the 2020 finals, with five scheduled events postponed to 2021. Two new venues were due to make their debuts with New York City replacing Las Vegas for the US Darts Masters, and Copenhagen being the venue for the inaugural 2020 Nordic Darts Masters, which replaced the German Darts Masters. Dirk van Duijvenbode (born 30 June 1992) is a Dutch professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Dimitri Van den Bergh (born 8 July 1994) is a Belgian professional darts player who currently competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events.
