2022 Channel One Trophy
The 2022 Channel One Trophy was a Russian domestic team figure skating competition held from 25 to 27 March 2022 in Saransk. It was held simultaneously with the 2022 World Figure Skating Championships, from which Russian (and Belarusian) figure skaters were excluded. On March 11, Figure Skating Federation of Russia published the competition format. As the framework of the competition, a jump festival and a team tournament are planned, where two teams would compete for prizes. Anna Shcherbakova was chosen as the captain of the red team and Mark Kondratiuk as the captain of the blue team. Entries Teams *Note: Ice dancers did not participate in the jumping festival. 2021–22 Figure Skating Season
The 2021–22 figure skating season began on July 1, 2021 and ended on June 30, 2022. During this season, elite skaters competed on the ISU Championship level at the 2022 European, Four Continents, World Junior, and World Championships, as well as at the 2022 Winter Olympics. They also competed at elite events such as the Grand Prix and Junior Grand Prix series, and the ISU Challenger Series. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Grand Prix Final was cancelled, while parts of the Junior Grand Prix, Grand Prix, and Challenger Series were not held as scheduled. Among the ISU Championships events, the Four Continents Championships were relocated, and the World Junior Championships were postponed and relocated. Due to re-allocations, the Estonian Skating Union hosted three of the four ISU Championships events this season. Kamila Valeryevna Valieva (russian: Камила Валерьевна Валиева; born 26 April 2006) is a Russian figure skater. She is the 2022 European champion, 2021 Rostelecom Cup champion, 2021 Skate Canada International champion, 2022 Russian national champion, and 2021 Russian National silver medalist. She is also a provisional 2022 Olympic champion in the team event pending the conclusion of a WADA investigation. During the 2022 Winter Olympics, a sample that Valieva had submitted for a drug test in December tested positive for trimetazidine, which is banned in sports competition for increasing endurance. Sofia Vladimirovna Samodelkina (russian: Софья Владимировна Самоделкина; born 18 February 2007) is a Russian figure skater. She is 2021 JGP Slovenia silver medalist, 2021 JGP Russia bronze medalist, and 2021 Denis Ten Memorial Challenge champion. Samodelkina is the ninth woman to land a quadruple jump and the fifteenth to land a triple Axel jump in international competition. Alexander Vladimirovich Samarin (russian: Александр Владимирович Самарин; born 15 June 1998) is a Russian figure skater. He is the 2019 European silver medalist, the 2019 Internationaux de France silver medalist, the 2017 Skate Canada International bronze medalist, the 2018 Internationaux de France bronze medalist, and a four-time 2017 Russian national medalist (silver in 2017 and 2018, bronze in 2019, bronze in 2020).
