ISU Challenger Series
The ISU Challenger Series is a series of international figure skating competitions. Established by the International Skating Union in the 2014–15 season, it is a group of senior-level events ranked below the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. Each event consists of at least three disciplines out of four ( men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing), and is required to take place between August 1 and December 15. The ISU Challenger Series Synchronized Skating is a separate competition series in the discipline of synchronized skating. History The ISU Council decided to create the series at its February 2014 meeting. Eleven competitions were selected in June 2014. The Triglav Trophy dropped out by October 10, 2014, resulting in a series composed of ten events. Ice Dance
Ice dance (sometimes referred to as ice dancing) is a discipline of figure skating that historically draws from ballroom dancing. It joined the World Figure Skating Championships in 1952, and became a Winter Olympic Games medal sport in 1976. According to the International Skating Union (ISU), the governing body of figure skating, an ice dance team consists of one woman and one man. Ice dance, like pairs skating, pair skating, has its roots in the "combined skating" developed in the 19th century by skating clubs and organizations and in recreational social skating. Couples and friends would skate waltzes, marches, and other social dances. The first steps in ice dance were similar to those used in ballroom dancing. Maximilian Pfisterer
Maximilian Pfisterer (born 8 July 1997) is a German ice dancer who currently competes with Lara Luft. With his former skating partner, Charise Matthaei, he is a two-time German national junior champion and competed in the final segment at two World Junior Championships (2018, 2019). They placed 11th at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics in Hamar, Norway. Matthaei/Pfisterer teamed up in August 2015. They were coached by René Sachtler-Lohse. Earlier in his career, Pfisterer skated with Franziska Pfisterer (his sister), Aliena Schober, Nadine Seidl, and Melina Kuffner. Pfisterer skated with Amanda Peterson during the 2019–20 season. She is a two-time Sofia Trophy champion (2019, 2020), the 2019 Denkova-Staviski Cup champion, the 2018 Crystal Skate of Romania champion, and a five-time Bulgarian national champion (2016, 2018–2020, 2022).
