2022 Bacolod Local Elections
Local elections were held in Bacolod on May 9, 2022, as part of the Philippine general election. The elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, the congressman, and twelve councilors, were filled in. Background Incumbent Mayor Evelio Leonardia will run for reelection. He will be challenged by former Negros Occidental 3rd district representative Albee Benitez. Incumbent Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran will also run for reelection. He will face incumbent councilors Caesar Distrito and Wilson Gamboa Jr. Representative Greg Gasataya will run for his third term. Albee Benitez
Alfredo Abelardo "Albee" Bantug Benitez (born December 20, 1966) is a Filipino-American businessman and politician serving as the City Mayor of Bacolod since 2022. He served three consecutive terms as the representative of Negros Occidental's 3rd district from 2010 to 2019. He was one of the richest congressmen in the Philippines. Born and raised at Palo Alto, California, Benitez started his career on 2010 as a congressman. Evelio Leonardia
Evelio Ramos Leonardia (born 10 July 1952), sometimes known as Bing Leonardia, is a Filipino realtor, lawyer, and politician who was the 36th Mayor of Bacolod. He served as Vice Mayor of the City of Bacolod from 1992 to 1995 under Alfredo Montelibano and represented the Lone District of Bacolod from 2013 to 2016. Early life Evelio Leonardia was born to a Court of First Instance Clerk of Court Jose Tulo Leonardia, and Ester Javier Ramos, a housewife on July 10, 1952, in Bacolod, Philippines. He had nine siblings. Bacolod's At-large Congressional District
Bacolod's at-large congressional district is the city-wide electoral district in Bacolod, Philippines. It has been electing representatives at-large to the House of Representatives since 1987 and earlier to the National Assembly from 1943 to 1944. The district was first formed ahead of the 1943 Philippine legislative election following the ratification of the Second Philippine Republic constitution which called for a unicameral legislature composed of delegates from all provinces and chartered cities in the country. Bacolod, a chartered city since 1938, elected Francisco Zulueta to the National Assembly, who was joined by then-mayor Alfredo C. Yulo as an appointed second delegate. Ricardo "Cano" Tan is a Filipino politician, businessman and former sports administrator. Football administration Tan was president of the Philippine Football Federation from 1995 to 1996. He was elected in November 1995, replacing his absent predecessor Lope Pascual. Among the first issue he dealt with was the Philippines' participation in the football tournament of the 1995 Southeast Asian Games in Chiang Mai, Thailand. 2022 Philippine Local Elections
Local elections in the Philippines took place on May 9, 2022. These were conducted together with the 2022 general election for national positions. All elected positions above the barangay (village) level but below the regional level were disputed. The following 18,180 positions will be disputed: * 81 provincial governorships and vice-governorships * 782 Provincial Board (Sangguniang Panlalawigan) members * 1,634 mayorships and vice-mayorships * 13,558 city and municipal councilors (Sangguniang Panlungsod and Sangguniang Bayan) The elective positions in the Bangsamoro was originally scheduled to be held with these elections, but was postponed to 2025, concurrently with the 2025 elections.
