2021–22 SV Sandhausen Season
The 2021–22 season was SV Sandhausen's 106th season in existence and the club's 10th consecutive season in the 2. Bundesliga, the second tier of German football. The club finished 14th in the 2. Bundesliga The club also participated in the DFB-Pokal, in which they were eliminated in the first round. Background and pre-season Sanshausen finished the 2020–21 season in 15th place, one point above the relegation play-off place and three points above automatic relegation. Joint managers Stefan Kulovits and Gerhard Kleppinger, who were appointed on 15 February after the dismissal of Michael Schiele, signed a contract with the club for the new season in May 2021. Sportverein Sandhausen 1916 e.V., commonly known as simply SV Sandhausen or Sandhausen, is a German association football club that plays in Sandhausen, immediately to the south of Heidelberg in Baden-Württemberg. The club's greatest success came in 2011–12 when it won the 3. Liga and earned promotion to the 2. Bundesliga for the first time. History After a shaky start financially, the club advanced steadily through the lower leagues until it earned promotion to the ''Bezirksliga Rhein-Saar'' in 1931, but only played for a single season at that level before descending again. Alexander Esswein (born 25 March 1990; ) is a German professional footballer who plays as a winger or forward for SV Sandhausen. Club career Esswein made his debut in the 2007–08 season. Volksparkstadion () is a football stadium in Hamburg, Germany, and is the home of Hamburger SV. History HSV actually have nothing to do with the origins of the stadium, even though they own the current arena. Before the club moved to the current site they played at Sportplatz at Rothenbaum. Bahrenfelder Stadion was the first stadium to be built on the site of the Volksparkstadion and the AOL Arena. It was inaugurated on 13 September 1925 with a match between FC Altona 93 and HSV.
