2021–22 Rugby Europe Super Cup
The 2021–22 Rugby Europe Super Cup is the first edition of the Rugby Europe Super Cup, an annual rugby union competition for professional franchises and clubs outside the three 'big leagues' of European Rugby. Each participant will play home and away-fixtures in six rounds of action played between September and December. At the end of the pool stage, the top two teams of each conference will qualify for the semi-finals, which will be played during April 2022, with the conference winners hosting the ties. The final between Lusitanos XV representing Lisbon, Portugal, and The Black Lion representing Tbilisi, Georgia, took place on 7 May 2022 to crown the inaugural champion of the Rugby Europe Super Cup. The Black Lion (Georgian: ''Shavi Lomi'') is a professional Georgian rugby union team based in Tbilisi that competes annually in the Rugby Europe Super Cup Eastern Conference competition along with Romanian Wolves and Tel Aviv Heat and fellow Georgian team Batumi RC. They also compete in the Currie Cup First Division in South Africa. Name The name of the franchise has several inspirations. The players of the national team are sometimes nicknamed the lions, in reference to an (unofficial) anthem of the national team, which says: "freedom is the property of the lions". Also this is similar to the Georgian Rugby Union's slogan, "Freedom is a lion's destiny". Western European Summer Time (WEST, UTC+01:00) is a summer daylight saving time scheme, 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time and Coordinated Universal Time.
