2021–22 Penn State Nittany Lions Basketball Team
The 2021–22 Penn State Nittany Lions basketball team represented Pennsylvania State University in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by first-year head coach Micah Shrewsberry and played their home games at the Bryce Jordan Center in University Park, Pennsylvania as members of the Big Ten Conference. Previous season In a season limited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Nittany Lions finished the 2020–21 season 11–14, 7–12 in Big Ten play to finish in a tie for 10th place. As the No. 10 seed in the Big Ten tournament, they defeated Nebraska before losing to Wisconsin in the second round. On October 21, 2020, head coach Pat Chambers resigned after an internal investigation by the school into inappropriate conduct by Chambers. Micah Shrewsberry
Micah Shrewsberry (born July 31, 1976) is an American basketball coach and former college basketball player who is the head coach for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish men's basketball, Notre Dame Fighting Irish of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Playing career Shrewsberry attended Cathedral High School (Indianapolis), Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, and played collegiately at Hanover Panthers, Hanover College where he was a three-year starter and tri-captain, while leading the league in free throw percentage and assists during the 1998–99 season. James A. Ferry Jr. (born July 9, 1967) is an American college basketball coach who is the current head coach of the UMBC Retrievers men's basketball team. He formerly served as interim head coach for the 2020–2021 season at Penn State and the head men's basketball coach at Duquesne, Long Island, Adelphi, and Plymouth State. Playing career Ferry played one season at NYIT before transferring to Keene State College for his final three years where he led the Owls in scoring his junior year. Izaiah Antoine Brockington (born July 12, 1999) is an American professional basketball player for the Birmingham Squadron of the NBA G League.
