The 2021–22 season is CSKA Sofia's 73rd season in the Parva Liga (the top flight of Bulgarian football) and their sixth consecutive participation after their administrative relegation in the third division due to mounting financial troubles. In addition to the domestic league, CSKA Sofia participates in this season's edition of the Bulgarian Cup and UEFA Europa Conference League. CSKA Sofia ( bg, ЦСКА София) is a Bulgarian professional association football club based in Sofia and currently competing in the country's premier football competition, the First League. ''CSKA'' is an abbreviation for ''Central Sports Club of the Army'' ( bg, Централен Спортен Клуб на Армията). Officially established on 5 May 1948, CSKA's roots date back to an army officers' club founded in 1923. The club has won a record 31 Bulgarian titles and 21 Bulgarian Cups. Jurgen Mattheij
Jurgen Mattheij (born 1 April 1993) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a centre back. Club career Born in Rotterdam, Mattheij began his professional career at Excelsior in 2011. In his eight seasons with the club, he played in 188 games and scored 9 goals. In June 2019, he joined Sparta Rotterdam before moving to CSKA Sofia a year later. Mattheij soon established himself as a key player for "the reds", becoming the team's captain. Ivan Turitsov
Ivan Georgiev Turitsov ( bg, Иван Георгиев Турицов; born 18 July 1999) is a Bulgarian professional footballer who plays as a defender for CSKA Sofia. Career After progressing through the youth system at Litex Lovech, Turitsov joined CSKA Sofia's academy in July 2016, aged 17. In April 2017, after impressing with the U19 squad, he was promoted to the CSKA Sofia II. On 30 April 2017, Turitsov made his senior debut, playing full 90 minutes in a 2–3 home loss against Etar in the Second League. In July 2017, Turitsov was loaned back to Litex Lovech to gain experience as a first-team player. Bradley Mazikou
Bradley Mazikou (born 2 June 1996) is a professional footballer who plays as a left-back for Swiss Super League club Servette. Born in France, he represents Congo at international level. Club career Mazikou began his senior career with Lorient but was unable to break into the first-team. Thibaut Vion (born 11 December 1993) is a French professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Bulgarian First League club CSKA Sofia.
