2021–22 Gibraltar National League
The 2021–22 Gibraltar National League season is the third season of the Gibraltar National League in Gibraltar, and the 123rd season of football on the territory overall. The league is due to kick off in October 2021. Lincoln Red Imps are the reigning champions, winning the title on the final day of the 2020–21 season. Format The structure of the league is expected to follow that of the previous two seasons. Teams will play one round of games as a single league, before splitting into two groups: the Championship Group contested by the top 6 sides, and the Challenge Group between the bottom 5 sides. The winners of the Challenge Group will receive the GFA Challenge Trophy and receive a bye to the second round of the next season's Rock Cup. Teams The following 11 teams competed in the 2021–22 season. Boca Gibraltar were expelled from the league in December 2020 and did not return. Gibraltar National League
The Gibraltar Football League is the only senior tier of association football in Gibraltar, founded in 2019 as the Gibraltar National League after a merger of the Gibraltar Premier Division, which served as the top division of football on the Rock since 1905, and the Gibraltar Second Division, which had existed since 1909. It was announced in August 2019 by the Gibraltar Football Association. The league is supported by the Gibraltar Intermediate League for U23 sides and Hound Dogs. Format Rumours of the new league began in 2018, when the Gibraltar FA announced plans for a single tier format in its league constitution for the 2018–19 Gibraltar Premier Division. On 1 August 2019, the GFA confirmed details of the restructure of domestic football in Gibraltar, and the format of the new 16 team league. Juan Francisco García Peña (born 1 October 1989), known as Juanfri, is a Spanish footballer who plays for Gibraltarian club Lincoln Red Imps as a striker. 2022–23 Rock Cup
The 2022–23 Rock Cup was a single-leg knockout tournament contested by clubs from Gibraltar, with twelve clubs participating. Lincoln Red Imps were the two-time defending champions, having defeated Bruno's Magpies in the final last season. The 2023 final is a rematch of the 2022 final, the previous final. This time, Bruno's Magpies won the title against Lincoln Red Imps 4–2 on penalties following a 1–1 draw. Bracket First round The draw for the first round of this season's tournament was held on 12 December 2022. Manchester 62 received a bye to the quarter-finals by virtue of winning the GFA Challenge Trophy last season. After the draw, 3 more teams received byes to the next round: Glacis United, St Joseph's and Lynx. All kick off times are in CET. Michele Di Piedi (born 21 December 1980) is an Italian professional football former player and manager, currently head coach of Glacis United. Biography Early career and Sheffield Wednesday (1997–2003) Di Piedi was born in Palermo, Sicily, and began his career at U.S. Siracusa before signing for Perugia in 1999. Jaime Molina
Jaime Ramón Molina Mata (born 15 March 1969) is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a defender, and is a manager, currently in charge of St Joseph's. He amassed Segunda División totals of 296 games and five goals over the course of 11 seasons, representing mainly Málaga, Mérida and Numancia (three years apiece).
