Metropolitan Division (NHL)
The National Hockey League's Metropolitan Division (often referred to simply as the "Metro Division") was formed in 2013 as one of the two divisions in the Eastern Conference as part of a league realignment. It is also a successor of the original Atlantic Division and one of the two successors to the Southeast Division. Elvis Merzļikins
Elvis Merzļikins (; born 13 April 1994) is a Latvian professional ice hockey goaltender for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL). Merzļikins spent several years playing hockey in Switzerland for HC Lugano, and was awarded the Jacques Plante Trophy as best goaltender in the National League in both 2016 and 2018. Drafted 76th overall by the Blue Jackets in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Merzļikins moved to North America in 2019 and made his NHL debut that year. Internationally Merzļikins has represented Latvia at the junior and senior level at multiple tournaments. Playing career Switzerland Merzļikins played his junior hockey in Switzerland with HC Lugano, which allowed him to play in the NL with a Swiss player license and not count as an import player. The 2021–22 Arizona Coyotes season was the 43rd season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on June 22, 1979, the 26th season since the franchise relocated from Winnipeg following the 1995–96 NHL season, and the 50th overall season, including the World Hockey Association years. The Coyotes returned to the Central Division for the 2021–22 season. The franchise was previously part of this division from the time of its formation in 1993 (when the team was still based in Manitoba) through to the end of its second season in Arizona in 1998. The modern Winnipeg Jets are also in the Central, thus for the first time that city's original NHL franchise will be in the same division as its current team. Joonas Korpisalo (; born 28 April 1994) is a Finnish professional ice hockey goaltender for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career He was selected by the Blue Jackets in the third round (62nd overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Korpisalo played professionally in his native Finland in the SM-liiga during the 2012–13 and 2013–14 seasons for Jokerit and Ilves respectively. Jet Greaves (pronounced GREEVZ; born March 30, 2001) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender for the Cleveland Monsters in the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect to the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL). Greaves made his NHL debut on April 4, 2023, in a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. In the process, he set the record for most saves by a Columbus goaltender in their debut match.
