2021 Wooroloo Bushfire
The 2021 Wooroloo bushfire was a fast moving bushfire that started on 1 February in Wooroloo, north-east of the Perth central business district, in the Shire of Mundaring, Western Australia. By 2 February, the bushfire emergency had spread to Shires of Chittering and Northam, and the City of Swan. It had destroyed at least 86 houses and 2 fire trucks. By 6 February, the bushfire had travelled from its source. The fire coincided with a five day lockdown of the Perth metropolitan region that started at 6pm on 31 January, due to a case of COVID-19 outside of hotel quarantine. In July 2021, WA Police charged a man with a breach of duty and carrying out an activity that could cause a fire, alleging that he used an angle grinder that caused sparks. Shire Of Mundaring
The Shire of Mundaring is a local government area in eastern metropolitan Perth, the capital of Western Australia. The Shire covers an area of and had a population of approximately 38,000 as at the 2016 Census. History The Greenmount Road District was created on 17 April 1903. Walyunga National Park
Walyunga National Park is a national park in Western Australia, 35 km northeast of Perth along the Great Northern Highway. The park is situated just behind the Darling Scarp in the Darling Range spread over a steeply sided valley. The Swan- Avon River and the Eastern Railway run through the park and the Avon Descent passes through a set of rapids along this section. The area is dominated by granite outcrops along with smaller dolerite areas, the tops of hills are capped with laterite. The park has barbeque, parking and toilet facilities. Also it is home to many animals such as grey kangaroo, galah, goanna, magpie, gecko and many other wildlife species. Plants include flooded gum, jarrah, petrophile and hakea. Chris Dawson (governor)
Christopher John Dawson is the 34th Governor of Western Australia and a former police officer who was the List of commissioners of the Western Australia Police Force, Commissioner of the Western Australia Police Force. He was sworn in as governor on 15 July 2022. Police career Dawson joined Western Australia Police in February 1976 as a cadet. He was promoted to superintendent in 1999. RAAF Base Pearce
RAAF Base Pearce is the main Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) military air base in Western Australia. The base is located in Bullsbrook, north of Perth. It is used for training by the RAAF and the Republic of Singapore Air Force. Pearce is the busiest RAAF base in Australia, with the highest air traffic including civil flights, including civil movements at the Joint User bases. Although its primary role is pilot training, it remains the only permanent RAAF base on the west coast, and thus has a significant logistics role.
