2021 Wexford Senior Hurling Championship
The 2021 Wexford Senior Hurling Championship was the 111th staging of the Wexford Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Wexford County Board in 1889. The championship began on 6 August 2021 and ended on 19 September 2021. Shelmaliers entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by St Anne's Rathangan at the semi-final stage. Crossabeg-Ballymurn joined the championship after gaining promotion from the intermediate grade. Oulart-the Ballagh and Fethard St. Mogue's were relegated from the championship. The final was played on 19 September 2021 at Chadwick's Wexford Park, between Rapparees and St Anne's Rathangan, in what was their first ever meeting in a final. Rapparees won the match by 6-18 to 1-18 to claim their second championship title overall and a first title since 1978. Wexford Intermediate Hurling Championship
The Wexford Intermediate Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as The Courtyard Ferns Intermediate Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition contested by mid-tier Wexford GAA clubs. The Wexford County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association has organised it since 1930. The title has been won at least once by 38 different clubs. The all-time record-holders are Ferns St Aidan's, who have won the competition six times. Oylegate–Glenbrien are the title-holders (2021) defeating HWH Bunclody in the Final. History The Wexford Intermediate Hurling Championship dates back to 1930. Lee Chin
Lee Chin (born 8 October 1992) is an Irish hurler who plays for Wexford Senior Championship club Faythe Harriers and at inter-county level with the Wexford senior hurling team. Playing career Faythe Harriers Chin joined the Faythe Harriers club at a young age and played in all grades at juvenile and underage levels, enjoying championship success at under-21 level in 2012. Chin previously played football for St. Mary's and the Sarsfields. During a 2011 game against Duffry Rovers, Chin was the target of racist name-calling by two Duffry Rovers players who were later suspended from the team. Wexford GAA chairman Diarmuid Devereux condemned the incident, saying such incidents "cannot be tolerated". Ian Byrne (hurler)
Ian Byrne is an Irish hurler who plays as a left wing-forward for the Wexford senior team. Born in Ferns, County Wexford, Byrne first played competitive hurling during his schooling at FCJ Secondary School in Bunclody. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Wexford minor team before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 2014 league. Byrne has since gone on to become a regular member of the team. At club level, Byrne plays with Ferns St Aidan's. O'Kennedy Park
O'Kennedy Park (sometimes designated Kennedy Park) is a GAA stadium in New Ross, County Wexford, Ireland. It is the main ground of Geraldine O'Hanrahan's Gaelic football and hurling teams and has also hosted inter-county fixtures. St Martin's GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Murrintown in the Parish of Piercestown, County Wexford, Ireland. The club was founded in 1932 and fields teams in both hurling and Gaelic football. The women's arm of the club fields teams in both camogie and ladies' Gaelic football. Ferns St Aidan's is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Ferns, County Wexford, Ireland. The club was founded in 1886 and fields teams in hurling, Gaelic football and camogie. Overview Facilities Ferns St Aidan's has three full-sized adult pitches (one of which is the exact dimensions of Croke Park, and is regularly used by county teams for training) as well as a smaller, underage, pitch. Naomh Éanna GAA is a hurling, Gaelic football and camogie club based in Gorey, County Wexford, Ireland.St.Enda’s History The hurling club was founded in 1970 by a group of Christian Brothers and takes its name from Scoil Éanna, the school founded by Patrick Pearse. Faythe Harriers GAA
Faythe Harriers is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Wexford town, Ireland. History The history of the Faythe Harriers stretches back to the early 1940s, although the hurling club wasn't formed until 1949. In the late 1930s, the Mulgannon Harriers were the G.A.A. standard-bearers in the south end of Wexford town before they disbanded. In 1941, when a football street league was started in Wexford, John Murphy, Kevin Nolan, Jimmy Williams and a few others got together and decided to enter a team. They had no jerseys, so they approached the members of the Mulgannon Harriers committee for a loan of theirs. They said that they could on condition that they use another name. Rathnure St Anne's is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Rathnure, County Wexford, Ireland. Rathnure's most famous players are the Rackards and Quigley brothers. First AGM At a meeting in Rathnure in the year 1931, Rathnure St Anne's GAA Club was founded. Founder members on that night were Pat Byrne, James O'Leary, Pat Doyle, Thomas Murphy, Nick Mernagh, Denis Brennan and Master O'Rielly. Cloughbawn GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Clonroche, County Wexford, Ireland. The club is primarily concerned with the game of hurling.
