2021 Ulster Senior Football Championship
The 2021 Ulster Senior Football Championship is the 133rd installment of the annual Ulster Senior Football Championship organised by Ulster GAA. It is one of the four provincial competitions of the 2021 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. The winners receive the Anglo-Celt Cup. The draw for the championship was made on 22 April 2021. Teams The Ulster championship is contested by the nine counties in the province of Ulster. Ulster comprises the six counties of Northern Ireland as well as Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan in the Republic of Ireland. Championship draw Preliminary Round 2 counties were randomly drawn to face each other in the preliminary round. The lowest ranked county to play in the preliminary round was Down of Division 2. Feargal Logan
Feargal Logan is a Gaelic football manager and former player, who was a starting member of the Tyrone county team that reached the 1995 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final. Legal career Since retiring from play, Logan's name has become more known in GAA circles for his work as a lawyer, representing players in disciplinary hearings, most famously reducing Ryan McMenamin's suspension in 2005 to allow him to play the crunch quarter final game against Dublin, by pointing out that the Central Disciplinary Committee had no authority to use television footage when considering a player's punishment. This appeal set a precedent that allowed several other players to successfully revoke their suspensions, such as Armagh players, Kieran McKeever and Paul McGrane. The Donegal County Board ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Dhún na nGall) or Donegal GAA is one of 32 county boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) in Ireland, and is responsible for the administration of Gaelic games in County Donegal. 2008 Ulster Senior Football Championship
The 2008 Ulster Senior Football Championship was the 120th installment of the annual Ulster Senior Football Championship held under the auspices of the Ulster GAA. It was won by Armagh who defeated Fermanagh in the final after a replay. This was Armagh's sixth title since the turn of the century and their 14th overall. Fermanagh were appearing in their first final since 1982. Steven McDonnell, 2003's Player of the Year, was the top scorer, hitting 1-17 in Armagh's run to victory in Ulster. Although defeated after a replay by Down in the first round of the Ulster Championship, Tyrone emerged as victors in the 2008 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, beating Kerry in the 2008 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final. 2002 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The 2002 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 116th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament. The championship began on 5 May 2002 and ended on 22 September 2002. Galway entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Kerry in the All-Ireland quarter-final. On 22 September 2002, Armagh won the championship following a 1-12 to 0-14 defeat of Kerry in the All-Ireland final. This was their first All-Ireland title. It remains their only All-Ireland title. Armagh's Oisín McConville was the championship's top scorer with 1-40. His teammate Kieran McGeeney was the choice for the three Footballer of the Year awards. Kieran McGeeney
Kieran McGeeney (born 18 October 1971) is an Irish people, Irish Gaelic football Manager (Gaelic games), manager and former player, who currently manages his native county, having previously managed the senior Kildare county football team, Kildare county team from 2007 until 2013. McGeeney played football with his local club Mullaghbawn Cúchullain's GFC, Mullaghbawn Cúchullain's in Armagh and also for CLG Na Fianna, Na Fianna club in Dublin. 1951 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The 1951 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 65th staging of Ireland's premier Gaelic football knock-out competition. Mayo won their second All-Ireland in a row. The Curse of '51 Mayo have not won an All-Ireland football final since 1951. Legend has it that a priest became furious when the Mayo team bus returning home from the 1951 final passed by a funeral without showing respect as they celebrated their All-Ireland win. The priest supposedly put a curse on Mayo, that they would not win another title until all of the team had died. Since the deaths of Pádraig Carney in 2019 and Paddy Prendergast in 2021, only one member of the 1951 team remain living – Mick Loftus, though he was a sub and did not play on the day. Prendergast, who was the final surviving member of the team and played at full-back, died at the age of 95 on 26 September 2021. Enda McGinley
Enda McGinley (born 1981) is an Irish Gaelic football manager and former player for the Errigal Ciarán club and the Tyrone county team. He managed the Antrim county team between 2020 and 2022. McGinley was part of Tyrone's All-Ireland-winning teams of 2003, 2005 and 2008. He is known for his hard working style of play and for scoring from midfield. He announced his retirement from inter-county football in November 2011. Playing career McGinley plays his club football for Errigal Ciarán. He was a member of the Tyrone minor team who won the All-Ireland Minor Football Championship under Mickey Harte in 1998. With Harte again in charge he won two All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship titles in 2000 and 2001.
