2021 Swiss Mixed Doubles Curling Championship
The 2021 Swiss Mixed Doubles Curling Championship was held from January 27 to 30, 2021 at the Curlinghalle AG Biel in Biel, Switzerland. The winning pair of Briar Hürlimann and Yannick Schwaller then played against the 2020 Swiss champions Jenny Perret and Martin Rios for the right represent Switzerland at the 2021 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship. The event was held in a round robin format between the eight competing teams. The top three teams then advanced to the playoffs where the second place team played the third place team in the semifinal. The winner of the semifinal then played the first place team in a best of three to determine the winner. Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Benoît François Dominique Schwarz (born 19 August 1991) is a Swiss curler. He currently throws fourth stones for the Peter de Cruz rink. He won gold medal with the Swiss team at the 2013 European Curling Championships in Stavanger and a bronze medal at the 2014 World Men's Curling Championship in Beijing. Silvana Petra Tirinzoni (born 25 June 1979) is a Swiss curler from Zurich. She is currently the reigning women's world champion skip having won the last three championships, in 2019, 2021 and . Kevin Wunderlin (born 17 December 1991) is a Swiss curler. He currently skips the Biel/Bienne curling team on the World Curling Tour. Wunderlin's first international curling experience came at the 2013 European Mixed Curling Championship, when Wunderlin played second for the Swiss team, skipped by Marc Pfister.
