2021 Summer Series
The 2021 Summer Series was a series of friendly soccer matches played between six clubs from Alberta, British Columbia, and Manitoba. The eight matches were held to showcase a potential national second division within the Canadian soccer league system. The Summer Series ran from 26 June to 8 August, 2021. Jeff Paulus
Jeffrey Paulus (born October 3, 1969) is a Canadian former semi-professional soccer player and former head coach of FC Edmonton in the Canadian Premier League. He coached the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology men's soccer team between 2004 and 2012 and was crowned Canadian College Athletic Association National Champions in his penultimate season. Having also worked for the Canadian Soccer Association for five years, Paulus joined FC Edmonton as assistant coach and Academy technical director in 2011. He was appointed as FC Edmonton's head coach in July 2018. Playing career Paulus played hockey and soccer as a child. Turning his sole attention to soccer in his teens, he played for local clubs St. Andrews, Maple Leaf and Woburn. Kapri Marcus Douglas Simmons (born July 16, 2000) is a professional footballer. Born in Canada, he represents Guyana at international level. Early career Simmons played youth soccer with Edmonton Green & Gold, and was later a part of the FC Edmonton academy. He won a silver medal with Team Alberta at the 2017 Canada Summer Games. Vanni Sartini (born 14 November 1976) is an Italian professional football coach, who is the head coach of Major League Soccer club Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Early life Sartini was born in Florence, Italy, to a teenage couple - both his parents were 17 at the time of his birth. Inspired by his father, a semi-professional footballer who also worked as the photo archivist for a local newspaper, Sartini started playing football as a goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper. Andrew Stevenson (soccer)
Andrew Stevenson (January 21, 1784 – January 25, 1857) was an American politician, lawyer and diplomat. He represented Richmond, Virginia in the Virginia House of Delegates and eventually became its speaker before being elected to the United States House of Representatives; its members subsequently elected him their Speaker. Stevenson also served in the Jackson administration for four years as the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom before retiring to his slave plantation in Albemarle County. He also served on the board of visitors of the University of Virginia and briefly as its rector before his death. Colin Fyfe Miller (born 4 October 1964) is a Canadian professional soccer coach who captained the Canadian national team several times while earning 61 caps (scoring 5 goals) in total. Club career Moving to Vancouver at the age of 10, Miller began his professional playing career as a 17-year-old, joining the Toronto Blizzard of the NASL in 1982. Pacific Coast Soccer League
The Pacific Coast Soccer League is an amateur soccer league, currently featuring teams from British Columbia. In the past clubs from Washington and Oregon have competed. PCSL is considered to be British Columbia's premier summer league. The league winners are not eligible for any higher cup competitions; however, most players play in a winter league, such as the VMSL, VISL or FVSL, where teams do participate in BC Provincial Cup qualification. The league has a short, 2.5-month summer season. The league is considered to be a 4th tier competition next to USL League 2. The PCSL comprises elite football players, including ex-pros from Europe and North America, or NCAA or U Sports players and others looking to become professional footballers, or maintain fitness.
