Marcus Simmons (soccer)
Kapri Marcus Douglas Simmons (born July 16, 2000) is a professional footballer. Born in Canada, he represents Guyana at international level. Early career Simmons played youth soccer with Edmonton Green & Gold, and was later a part of the FC Edmonton academy. He won a silver medal with Team Alberta at the 2017 Canada Summer Games. In the offseason of 2021, Simmons played with amateur club Edmonton Scottish and participated in the 2021 Summer Series and AMSL, notably scoring a 1st minute goal against Calgary Foothills in the home opener. University career In 2018, he began attending MacEwan University, playing for the men's soccer team. FC Edmonton
FC Edmonton was a Canadian professional soccer club based in Edmonton, Alberta. The club was founded in 2010 and competed in the North American Soccer League (NASL) from 2011 to 2017. The club went on hiatus when NASL ceased competitive operations before the cancelled 2018 season. The Mount Royal Cougars are the men's and women's athletic teams that represent Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The Cougars field eight varsity teams with four men's teams and four women's teams that compete in the Canada West Universities Athletic Association of U Sports. The Cougars were previously members of the Alberta Colleges Athletics Conference of the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association prior to the move to CIS (since renamed U Sports) in 2012. The 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup qualification tournament determined the final three teams to qualify for the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The matches took place from 16 to 20 June 2023 at DRV PNK Stadium, Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the United States. Teams Twelve teams participated in the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup qualifiers based on the results of the 2022–23 CONCACAF Nations League. Jamaal Shabazz
Jamaal Shabazz (born 22 November 1963) is a Trinidadian football manager, who is the current head coach of the Guyana national football team. He is known for four different stints in charge of Guyana. Coup attempt Shabazz was involved in the 1990 Jamaat al Muslimeen coup attempt under the group's leader Yasin Abu Bakr in his home country, with the belief that the army would support the uprising. The group was imprisoned for two years before the courts accepted the claim that their surrender had been based on a promise of amnesty; this was subsequently overturned by the Privy Council in London but the group were not re-arrested. As a result of his involvement in the coup attempt, Shabazz has had conditions placed on his ability to travel to the United States as required for his duties as an international football manager. The Canadian Premier League (CPL or CanPL; french: Première ligue canadienne, links=no) is a professional men's Association football, soccer league in Canada. At the top of the Canadian soccer league system, it is the country's primary national soccer league competition. The league consists of eight teams, from five of provinces and territories of Canada, Canada's ten provinces.
