2021 Sporting Kansas City Season
The 2021 Sporting Kansas City season was the twenty-sixth season of the team's existence in Major League Soccer and the eleventh year played under the Sporting Kansas City moniker. The season began on April 17. Summary Preseason Sporting KC players reported for a seven day quarantine period involving medical exams and testing on March 1. The team then trained for six weeks beginning on March 8 before the season started on April 17. Sporting KC began a one week voluntary training on March 1 before heading to Arizona on March 7. The team then began preseason training and played 4 preseason matches on March 13, March 20, March 24 and April 3 before returning to Kansas City on April 3. Designated Player Rule
The Designated Player Rule, nicknamed the Beckham Rule, allows Major League Soccer franchises to sign up to three players that would be considered outside their salary cap (either by offering the player higher wages or by paying a transfer fee for the player). The rule, which was adopted ahead of the 2007 MLS season, enables teams to compete for star players in the international football market. The rule is one of two mechanisms by which MLS teams may exceed their salary cap, the other being allocation money. As of December 2019, there have been 209 Designated Players in league history. Matt Constant
Matthew Constant (born August 17, 1998) is a Canadian- American soccer player. Career Youth Constant spent 7 years as part of the Dallas Texans USSDA academy side. College & amateur Constant played college soccer at the University of New Mexico for two seasons in 2016 and 2017. He made 38 appearances, scoring one goal for the Lobos. In 2019, Constant transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he played two further seasons, including a truncated 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For the Tar Heels, Constant made 18 appearances. He scored a single goal and tallied a single assist. 2020 MLS SuperDraft
The 2020 MLS SuperDraft was the 21st edition of the MLS SuperDraft, SuperDraft conducted by Major League Soccer. The 2020 SuperDraft was the first SuperDraft held exclusively via conference call and web streaming. The first two rounds of the 2020 SuperDraft were held on January 9, 2020 while rounds three and four were held on January 13, 2020. Previously, the SuperDraft had been held in conjunction with the annual January United Soccer Coaches convention. Nicolas Johnny Isimat-Mirin (; born 15 November 1991) is a French professional footballer who plays as a central defender for Dutch club Vitesse. Grayson Barber (born May 3, 2000) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder.
