2021 Shorter Hawks Football Team
The 2021 Shorter Hawks football team represented Shorter University as a member of the Gulf South Conference (GSC) during the 2021 NCAA Division II football season. They were led by fourth-year head coach Zach Morrison. The Hawks played their home games at Barron Stadium in Rome, Georgia. Previous season The Hawks finished the 2020 season 2–2. On August 12, 2020, Gulf South Conference postponed fall competition in 2020 for several sports due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A few months later in November, the conference announced that there will be no spring conference competition in football. Teams that opt-in to compete would have to schedule on their own. The Hawks scheduled four official games in spring 2021 for the 2020 season. The Gulf South Conference (GSC) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level, which operates in the Southeastern United States. History Originally known as the Mid-South Athletic Conference or Mid-South Conference, the Gulf South Conference was formed by six universities in the summer of 1970: Delta State, Florence State (now North Alabama), Jacksonville State, Livingston (now West Alabama), Tennessee–Martin, and Troy State (now Troy). Cleveland is a city in Bolivar County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 11,199 as of the 2020 United States Census.
