2021 Polaris Music Prize ...
The 2021 edition of the Canadian Polaris Music Prize was presented on September 27, 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada, the award was presented in a livestreamed virtual event hosted by Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe of CBC Music. The longlist was announced on June 16, 2021, with the shortlist following on July 15, 2021. Shortlist Longlist Polaris Heritage Prize Nominees for the Slaight Family Polaris Heritage Prize, an award to honour classic Canadian albums released before the creation of the Polaris Prize, were announced after the main Polaris Prize ceremony. The winners were announced on October 26. Cadence Weapon
Roland "Rollie" Pemberton, better known by his stage name Cadence Weapon, is a Canadian-American rapper based in Toronto, Ontario. Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Pemberton released his first album, ''Breaking Kayfabe'', in 2005 with positive reviews. He subsequently signed with the American record label ANTI-, releasing the albums ''Afterparty Babies'' in 2008 and ''Hope in Dirt City'' in 2012. ''Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs'' is the third studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Klô Pelgag, released on June 26, 2020. The album received critical acclaim upon its release. Release ''Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs'' was initially set for release on April 17, 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the release of the album was later pushed back to June 26, as announced via Pelgag's official website on April 10. Singles Prior to the official launch of the album, four singles were put out. "Rémora" serves as the lead single, which was released on February 6, 2020. CFCF is the stage name of Canadian electronic musician/vocalist Michael Silver. Based in Montreal, Silver took the name CFCF from the call sign of the city's CFCF-TV. Silver has released five albums and several EPs. In 2015 he released two albums within two weeks: ''Radiance and Submission'' on July 31, and ''The Colours of Life'' on August 14. His most recent release is ''memoryland'' (2021). Background Originally from Montreal, Silver became interested in electronic music at an early age. The Besnard Lakes
The Besnard Lakes ( ) are a Canadian indie rock band from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Formed in 2003 by the husband and wife team of Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas, the band also includes Kevin Laing (drums), Richard White (guitar), Sheenah Ko (keyboards) and Robbie MacArthur (guitar).
