2021 Pan Am Badminton Championships
The 2021 Pan Am Badminton Championships are the 24th tournament of the Pan American Badminton Championships held in Guatemala City, Guatemala, from April 28 to May 2, 2021. Tournament The 2021 Pan Am Badminton Championships is the 24th edition of the championships. This tournament is organized by the Badminton Federation of Guatemala and sanctioned by the BWF. The tournament consist of men's (singles and doubles), women's (singles and doubles), and also mixed doubles. Guatemala City
Guatemala City ( es, Ciudad de Guatemala), known locally as Guatemala or Guate, is the capital and largest city of Guatemala, and the most populous urban area in Central America. Kevin Cordón
Kevin Haroldo Cordón Buezo (born November 28, 1986) is a Guatemalan badminton player. He won two men's singles title at the Pan American Games, four title at the Pan Am Championships (3 in singles and 1 in doubles), and six title at the Central American and Caribbean Games (4 in singles and 2 in doubles). He is a four time Olympian for Guatemala participating at the 2008, 2012, 2016 and the 2020 Olympic Games. Career Born in La Unión, Zacapa, Cordón was named after former England international footballer Kevin Keegan, of whom his father was a fan. In spite of badminton not being popular in Guatemala during his childhood, he became a badminton player as he thought it would give him a better chance of one day becoming an Olympian than if he played a different sport, being the first member of his family to practice the sport. Alison Lee (born February 26, 1995) is an American professional golfer who plays on the LPGA Tour and is a college student at the University of California, Los Angeles. She was ranked number 1 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking for 16 weeks in 2013–14. Early life Lee was born in Los Angeles to Korean immigrant parents. She started golfing at a young age. Lee's father Johnny Lee was her first instructor. Amateur career Lee was an AJGA First-Team All-American for six years, from 2008 through 2013, with nine wins on the AJGA circuit. Job Castillo Galindo (born 1 November 1992) is a Mexican badminton player. He competed at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore. Nyl Yakura
Nyl Kiyoshi Yakura (born 14 February 1993) is a Canadian badminton player. He captured two gold medals at the Pan American Games, winning the men's doubles title in 2019 and 2023, and also a silver in the mixed doubles in 2019. Yakura, who grew up in Pickering, currently lives in Toronto and trains at the KC Badminton Club in Markham. Career Yakura competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
