2021 Minor League Cricket Season
The 2021 Minor League Cricket season (branded as the 2021 Toyota Minor League Cricket championship presented by Sling TV for sponsorship reasons and sometimes shortened to 2021 MiLC) was the inaugural season of Minor League Cricket, established by USA Cricket (USAC) and Major League Cricket (MLC) in 2019. The season was hosted over 27 venues across the United States, with matches broadcast through Willow and Sling TV. It was played from July 31 to October 3, 2021. The tournament was won by the Silicon Valley Strikers, who defeated the New Jersey Stallions in the final played in Morrisville, North Carolina by 6 wickets, with Hammad Azam of the Golden State Grizzlies winning the award for Most Valuable Player of the series. USA Cricket (USAC) is the governing body of cricket in the United States. USA Cricket operates all of the United States national representative cricket sides, including the men's and women's national teams and youth teams, as well as Minor League Cricket, which is the highest level of domestic American Twenty20 cricket. The body was unveiled on September 24, 2017, as a proposed successor to the United States of America Cricket Association, which had been expelled from the International Cricket Council (ICC) in June 2017 due to governance issues. The Prairie View Cricket Complex (PVCC) is a group of six cricket grounds located in the Waller County neighborhood of Houston, Texas, United States. The facility is joint-owned by Tanweer Ahmed and Major League Cricket. History In January 2018, Houston developer David Wolff, along with Pakistani American businessman Tanweer Ahmed joint-purchased 86 acres of land in Prairie View, Texas to build a cricket complex. Construction on the complex started by March 2018, in which two cricket grounds were scheduled to open by April 2018.
