2021 Men's Ice Hockey World Championships
The 2021 Men's Ice Hockey World Championships was the 84th such event hosted by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, only teams in the championship division participated in this year's tournament. The competition served as a qualification tournament for the top (only) division placements in the 2022 competition. After all events were cancelled in 2020, all teams remained in their respective divisions. Singapore was scheduled to be the newest national team to participate and has been assigned to Division IV. On 18 November 2020, the IIHF announced that they had cancelled the tournaments for Divisions I, II, III and IV due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Championship Division was held from 21 May to 6 June. 2020 Men's Ice Hockey World Championships
The 2020 Men's Ice Hockey World Championships would have been the 84th such event hosted by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Teams would've participated in several levels of competition, including the inaugural competition in the newly created Division IV. The competition would also have served as qualifications for division placements in the 2021 competition. Restructuring by the IIHF led to several changes in the lower divisions of the 2020 World Championships. Division III was renamed Division III-A, the Division III qualification tournament was renamed Division III-B, and Division IV was created, with the latter two tournaments consisting of four teams each instead of the standard six. The bottom two teams in the 2019 Division III qualification tournament were assigned to the new Division IV, along with newcomers Malaysia and the Philippines. The 2022 Men's Ice Hockey World Championships was the 85th such event hosted by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Teams were participating in several levels of competition. The competition also served as qualifications for division placements in the 2023 competition. After all events, outside of the top division, were cancelled in 2021, the teams were set to stay put in their respective divisions. However, adjustments were made following the IIHF's suspension of Russia and Belarus during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.
