2021 Madrid Explosion
On 20 January 2021, an explosion occurred in a building on Calle de Toledo in Madrid, Spain, causing it to partially collapse. The blast killed four people and wounded ten others. Explosion At about 14:55 CET, at a residence which provided training for Catholic priests and gave meals to homeless people, on Calle de Toledo, in Madrid, Spain, neighbors felt a weird smell. When they were trying to find out where it came from, the building exploded because of a gas leak originated in the street. This massive explosion partially destroyed the building but didn't leave anybody under the debris. Four men were killed in the blast: a 35-year-old electrician, who was also a parishioner and had gone there to visit his friend, the priest; a 45-year-old bricklayer who was working nearby the scene; a 46-year-old Bulgarian passerby; and a 36-year-old parish priest who died in hospital the day after the explosion. 2013 Rosario Gas Explosion
A gas explosion caused by a large gas leak occurred in a residential area of Rosario, the third-largest city in Argentina, on August 6, 2013. A nearby building collapsed, and others were at high risk of structural failure. Twenty-two people died, and sixty were injured. Several organizations helped secure the area, search for survivors and aid people who lost their homes. Shortly after the explosion, the time needed for reconstruction was estimated at six months. The provincial judiciary launched an investigation into the cause of the explosion. Primary suspects were Litoral Gas (the natural-gas provider for Rosario) and an employee who carried out maintenance work at the building that day. Chemical Industries Of Ethylene Oxide Explosion
On 14 January 2020, there was a major explosion at the Chemical Industries of Ethylene Oxide (IQOXE) site in Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain. Three people died, although none of the fatalities were on-site, and seven people were injured because of the explosion. The site is operated by IQOXE, which is the only producer of ethylene oxide in Spain with an installed capacity of 140,000 tonnes per year, and 50% of this production is destined to the manufacture of glycol, one of the main raw materials for the production of PET polymers. Because of the toxic nature of the chemicals it produces, the site is covered by the Seveso-III directive. The Calle de Toledo is a historic street in central Madrid, Spain, running across the Centro and Arganzuela districts. History and description Straddling along the Centro and Arganzuela districts, it starts at the Plaza Mayor and ends at the Glorieta de las Pirámides. It was already named ''Toledo'' in the 16th century. Until the late 15th century it ended at the Hospital of La Latina. In the early 17th century the part near the Plaza Mayor was widened. 2019 Paris Explosion
On 12 January 2019, an explosion occurred 6 Rue de Trevise in 9th arrondissement of Paris, France. Two firefighters, a Spanish tourist, and another woman were killed, and forty-seven others were injured. According to local prosecutor Remy Heitz, the apparent cause of the explosion was a gas leak. Firefighters were present at the time of the blast while investigating a suspected gas leak. Explosion Prior to the explosion, firefighters were at the location responding to reports of a gas leak.
