2021 IKF European Korfball A-Championship
The 2021 European Korfball A-Championship was held in Belgium from 25 to 30 October 2021. Matches was played in Antwerp. It was be the second edition where the European Korfball Championship is split into an A-Championship and a B-Championship. The tournament served as a qualifier for the 2023 IKF World Korfball Championship. Qualified teams Venues All group stages matches were organized at Boeckenberg Sportcenter in Deurne. Merksem (; former spelling: ''Merxem'') is a district of the municipality and city of Antwerp in the Flemish Region of Belgium. It has 44,808 inhabitants as of 2021. History The history of Merksem goes back to Gallo-Roman times. During that period the region was mentioned as ''Merk'' (border) and ''Heim'' (settlement) being part of the diocese Kamerijk. Deurne () is the second largest district of the municipality of Antwerp, Belgium, (right after the Antwerp town district) and has 80.781 inhabitants (2021). Deurne is best known for its green environment with the biggest park in Antwerp Rivierenhof. The International Korfball Federation awarded the hosting rights for the tournament to Chinese Taipei on 9 August 2019, ahead of the bids of Czech Republic and the Netherlands.
