The 2021 Clásica de San Sebastián was a road cycling one-day race that took place on 31 July 2021 in San Sebastián, Spain. It was the 40th edition of the Clásica de San Sebastián and the twenty-second event of the 2021 UCI World Tour. It was won by Neilson Powless in a three way sprint. 2021 UCI World Tour
The 2021 UCI World Tour was a series of races that included twenty-nine road cycling events throughout the 2021 cycling season. The tour started with the opening stage of the UAE Tour on 21 February, and concluded with Il Lombardia on 9 October. Events The 2021 calendar was announced in the autumn of 2020. Cancelled events Due to COVID-19-related logistical concerns raised by teams regarding travel to Australia (including strict quarantine requirements), the Tour Down Under (19–24 January) and the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race (31 January) were cancelled. The organisers of the Tour Down Under held a "domestic cycling festival" known as the Santos Festival of Cycling in its place, which featured races in various disciplines (including a National Road Series event). Lorenzo Rota (born 23 May 1995) is an Italian racing cyclist, who rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career He rode at the 2014 UCI Road World Championships, and was named in the start list for the 2017 Giro d'Italia. Gianni Moscon (born 20 April 1994) is an Italian professional cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in the road race. Early life and career Moscon grew up in the apple farms north of Trento in Trentino in the north of Italy. This led to him being given the nickname "Il Trattore", which translates to "The Tractor". The Donostia-Donostia Klasikoa — Clásica San Sebastián-San Sebastián (San Sebastián Classic) is a one-day professional men's bicycle road race in northern Spain that has been held every summer since 1981 in San Sebastián. It is the most important one-day race in Spain, is considered a one-day race of great prestige, just behind the 'Monuments', and contributes points towards the UCI World Ranking. It was most recently held on 31 July 2021. Clásica de San Sebastián is known for its winding, undulating terrain which favours aggressive riding, favouring climbers. Neilson Powless (born September 3, 1996) is an American professional road racing cyclist who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Powless, who is Oneida, is the first US Native American to compete in the Tour de France. Career In August 2019, he was named in the startlist for the 2019 Vuelta a España.
